Chapter 9: Forgetting Everything

The skin on his shoulder starts stretching out over the fleshy wound lined down his stomach, and even the blood stains pockmarked throughout his body dissolve away.

"Wow, you guys actually trust me?" he says.

"Yes. What's your name?" Haseul asks.

"Hanyu," he says.

Jiwoo says, "Nice to meet you Hanyu. My name is-"

"Jiwoo. I already know. All your names are like famous."

Yerim asks, "Famous?"

"I don't know. People have been saying that this case with you guys is different. Not like the usual missions."

"Interesting. Alright back to our focus on finding the scar," Yerim says. "Do you know where it is?"

"Nope, knocked me out on the way here. They probably predicted that one of us would betray them," Hanyu says.

"Any ideas then?" Yerim asks.

"We can backtrack with the suits on the men or something," Heejin says.

"Grab the suits. Check them," Haseul orders.

Yerim looks around and reaches for the jet-black jacket on the unconscious main. She pulls it off and studies it.

Nothing of interest.

Pockets.

Gun pockets.

Bulletproof plates.

More pockets.

"It doesn't look like anything," Yeojin says.

"Yup, just a regular bulletproof suit. Didn't really think-" Yerim stops.

Her peripheral vision sees Sooyoung ripping apart another jacket.

"What are you doing?" Haseul asks.

Sooyoung doesn't respond. She continues tearing and eventually plucks out a small piece that Yerim couldn't make out.

Sooyoung studies it.

"It's a tracker."

Hyunjin says, "How do you know? That thing is like fucking 3 nanometers wide."

"I don't know. I just," Sooyoung pauses. "I just know."

Sooyoung sets it on her palm, "Someone hand me a tweezer, or something like a paperclip."

Yerim hands her a Bobby pin.

Sooyoung takes it and starts prying it into the tracker. For the next 5 minutes, they watch Sooyoung meticulously do something to the tracker.

Finally, Sooyoung sets the Bobby pin on the ground. She holds the tracker to the sky and gazes at it.

"The scar's this way," she says and points back to the forest, where their house originally was.

"How do you know?" Kahei asks.

"This tracker has a history. I tweaked it a bit to find where it came from, and I guess it's back where we started," Sooyoung says.

Yerim explains, "It's her energy manipulation. That's why she's so good with tech."

"Alright, whatever you say Sooyoung," Haseul says and starts walking toward the forest.
