Chapter 10: End Times

Start from the beginning

"Cringe worthy." She muttered, earning a frown from Trevor.

"I'm listening." Alucard said.

"Behold, you sulky half-vampire bastard. I bequeath you the Belmont Hold. Make that and the castle your home, not your grave. Be its last defender." Trevor smirked.

"You're giving me your home?" Alucard asked.

"It's yours. My childhood home and your childhood home. Protect it. Make something out of it. Something better than a pile of ruins and a symbol of terror." He said and Alucard nodded.

"Oh Trevor…someone quick he's actually sounding like a decent human being, quick someone give him a beer!" Marua exclaimed, making the others smile and Trevor's face twitched in anger.

"I'll show you a decent human being!" He exclaimed and she yelped as he grabbed her by the shoulders and nuzzled her head with his fist.

"Ow! I get it, I'm sorry I was only joking!" She whined and they surrogate sibling banter brought smiles to their comrades faces.

Now that Alucard's matter was settled Maria wondered what exactly she should do now?

Should she go back to the church?

Nope, even if she were to go back, those corrupt priests and page boys would just lock her away and throw away the key and then they'll come up with some bullshit excuse for losing the Saintess. Yeah that doesn't sound swell.

Should she look for other Saints? There's a possibility there's more of her kind.

However, very little is known about the Saints they appear and disappear like the wind leaving very few things to work with. Granted the Belmont Hold had plenty of information but it's mostly on skills and abilities which are easy enough to comprehend.

Should she become a wandering Saint?"

No, it sounds boring. Especially when you don't have a Trevor by your side.

"Maybe…I should stay." She muttered as the wind blew past her cheeks.

"You look troubled."

"Alucard!" She said surprised as he sat next to her and she sighed. "I'm wondering what I should do next." She hummed.

"Are you not going off somewhere with Trevor?" He asked.

"I would like to, the time I've spent with him helped me grow as a person, he's my brother but…I've finally developed a self away from the church, now all that's left is to find my purpose, what is the path I will choose as a Saint." She sighed.

"That's a lot to think about." He nodded.

"I know, and I don't think that going along with Trevor and keeping him from dying are gonna help." She shrugged.

"Then what are you thinking of doing?" He asked.

"I'm thinking of staying, maybe if I study, read more about the world I can have something to go on." She said.

"You want to stay?" He asked with a bit of hope laced in his voice.

"Why, you want me to go?" She quipt.

"No,no that's not what I meant!" He was quick to defend and it made her giggle.

"I'm only messing with you." She lightly shoved him on the arm and just then Trevor and Sypha came back from their walk.

Maria helped Sypha and Trevor pack up for their trip.

"Now…are you sure you don't wanna come with us?" Trevor asked with a groan as he lifted the items into the caravan.
