"It's fine." I walked over to the fence Gwen was sitting at. "What was that?" Vance asked me. "I'm not sure." i squinted trying to see where she could've gone. My heart drops when i hear over the radio. "It's empty."

"Did yo-" i looked over at Vance. "Yeah." he furrowed his eyebrows together. "I'm really sorry." he rubbed the side of my arm. "Yeah." i chuckled. My eyes stung but no tears threatened to come out.

"We have a basement." The sentence echoed in my head. I turned my head and looked at him. "Yeah." he laughed. I stood up and saw Gwen leaning against a cop car. She's probably just worried I told myself. That's all.

Cops began to storm into the house with guns pointed down to their feet. "This is it." i mumbled uber my breath. Gwen moved up from the car and sat on the ground her back on the fence. Not only am i gonna see Robin again but she'll see finney.

Suddenly her face lights up. She stands up and takes a deep breath. Suddenly Vance spins me around and i see him. Finney.

He was standing at the door step of the house in front of the one the police were raiding. Gwenny ran towards him. She threw her arms around him and sobbed into his neck. The police officers ran towards him until he was surrounded. He said something i couldn't quite make out.

There was one thing i did notice. No one followed him. He came out alone.

My heart sank. "Come on." Vance tugged at my arm. I couldn't move. "Y/n?" he looked at me. "He's not here." i admitted. I had known this whole time that he wasn't coming out. But it felt real today for the first time. "Y/n." Vance whispered and pulled me into a hug. My arms stayed at my side and i looked blankly at the house. Eyesight clouded my mouth suddenly felt as if i had grown moss. Finally a sob escaped from my mouth breaking the quiet that the world had gone in for just a moment.

I caught sight of Finney who only shook his head 'no' at me. My lips curled from disgust. They shook allowing more sobs to leave my body. Vance held right onto me and i only pressed my face into his chest because i couldn't bare to look at finney.

Something about him put me off. Maybe it was the fact that he had come out of the house alive. Or the white of his sleeve tainted red. Something was different. His aura had completely changed, like he was not only carrying the death of the Grabber but his death as well. The world was silent. Nothing but maybe a faint ringing.

Suddenly the rolling of wheels woke me.

Body bags.

I counted them as they passed and their name tags hung from the side.

Griffin Stagg
William Showalter
Bruce Yahmada

I couldn't process the last name but a loud scream made me. I looked up and saw Mena. She was on her knees and clinging onto the final body bag that read. Robin Arellano. I detached myself from Vance and ran to where my mother was standing.

"Y/n." she looked up at me her eyes red. "No! Please let me see him!" Mena begged the EMTS. "You have 2 minutes." they said coldly. As he was just an object they could only observe until he was needed. She unzipped the bag and a stench came out after. Mena grabbed his face and sobbed into his chest. "I'm sorry mijo." she whispered. "Perdóname." she brushed his hair out of his face.

He was covered in blood and paw prints stained his top. I hadn't noticed but my mom stood beside me and rubbed my arm. I walked over to his body and got a better look. His skin was pale and his lips were cracking. His arms looked thinner than usual and his hair was thick with blood. But he was missing his belt. The one he had gotten from his dad before Vietnam. I touched his face and it was rough. Another sob let out when i felt how cold he was. "I should've been there." my hand tightened around the cot. "I'm sorry Robin." i managed to stutter. "Come on." The EMT zipped the bag up and dragged him away.
