Chapter 3

I decided to get up and make my way downstairs the table was clear besides my spot. Marissa coming out to sit with me as we enjoyed having dinners together while my dad was away for work.

"Kenna I thought you weren't gonna come down for dinner tonight" she worriedly stated me giving her a warm smile. You see my dad has made it so all the securities and maids call me miss to make things more professional around the household. Marissa on the other hand was the only one that had the courage to call me by my name. Obviously when my dad wasn't around.

I started playing with my food as Marissa dropped her fork beside her plate.

"You ok honey?" I nodded

"You know I heard you earlier with your dad, I think you should get to know Leo, start fresh."

"Hmmm I just don't think I could get pass how he treated me in the past you know" thinking back he was cruel, he would spread rumours about me, would tease me and when it came to home would argue with me all night. Not that I made it any easier anyway. Those years that Leo lived with us I felt like I always came in second best as my dad adored him, he was the son he never had.

"Come on eat, you can't sit there staring at your food" I nodded and smiled and started to eat my dinner. Talking to Marissa is always refreshing. Asking about how her day was and anything new coming up.

After dinner I decided I needed some fresh air, after being cooped up in my room all day. It was quite warm outside and believe me I was cooking in my hoodie and leggings. The sun was starting to make its way down so I decided to pull my leggings up and sit at the pools edge taking in the gorgeous sky and the sun setting by the hills.

"When did you get rid of the slide"

I jumped. I didn't see Leo sitting by the corner of the pool. To be fair our pool was huuuuge so he was easily missed

"WHAT THE HELL LEO" he rolled his eyes and got up from the edge and starting walking into the house. Maybe too harsh?

"....Stop" I said without even thinking before talking. "I didn't mean to snap I was - y - you just scared me" I finally let out

I turned my head and he was already standing there, confused on what to do. I brought out my hand and patted my hands to the spot next to me. He pressed his tongue against his cheek standing there as if he was thinking what he should do.

"I'm not gonna bite" I bluntly let out along with a sigh. I turned my focus back to the sky and then felt a presence next to me

"We got rid of the slide a couple of years ago, I didn't really use it anymore since dad put a ban on me throwing parties" I softly replied

"Ofcourse" he chuckled "you're a bit of a wild one aren't you"

"Well you can't talk, you go out clubbing almost every night I've seen" biting my tongue from trying to get defensive. I held up my fingers to quote "pussy posse"

He scoffed "you're starting to sound like everyone else, it's not like I'm trying to be. People just have this stupid thing going on in their heads like they know everything. We don't even call ourselves that" him starting to get irritated. I turned around seeing Marissa behind the glass door starting to pull in the blinds. She raised an eyebrow mouthing "Be nice"

I turned back to the pool looking down biting my tongue once again and taking a few deep breaths

"Do you remember when we used to put soap on the slide and put the hose at the top to make it extra bubbly" he said reminiscing an old memory

I smiled softly and looked at him

"Yeh dad got so angry we were banned from using the pool for a whole week" I laughed

"And that one time we did it while Kate and Tobey was over and your dad got home from work early so we all hid in the bubbles while he's to busy calling your name and freaking out" we both started laughing at the point

"How is Kate and Tobey anyway" I haven't seen them in years aswell. It's not like we fell out we were pretty close. I guess they were more Leo's friends than mine.

"They're good, Kate's actually back in England at the moment filming for her show and I see Tobey all the time still" I smiled as we kept talking about how life has been since seeing each other. He confirmed he's done a couple of movies but isn't currently casted for one at the moment. We talked about a lot actually for once not trying to kill each other. After sometime it got quiet all of a sudden

"You know there is a reason why I'm staying here" I raised my eyebrows at him gesturing him to continue

"Mum actually moved back to Germany just recently but I wasn't ready to buy my own place yet and plus I've actually been seeing Baz quite a lot the last coup-"

"You've been seeing my dad?" I cut him off by accident

He looked back at the pool as if he was ready for me to give him an earful

"I'm not mad just confused I guess" biting my lip

"I really like Baz he's a good father figure"

"Easy for you to say" I scoffed, him just nodding. I guess we both didn't feel like arguing tonight

"Yeh well mum left so Baz actually invited me to stay, he said you were hardly home so I didn't think it'd be an issue"

"Well to be fair he's hardly home so he wouldn't know" I shrugged it got quiet again before I started talking

"Im sorry your mum left.... I know how close you were" Talking about this made my heart break. My mum was killed in an accident and I know it's not the same but having your mum leave to place a million miles away would be hard. I mean I wished that it was my situation but instead she's a lifetime away. I tear rolled down my eyes and I looked up at Leo

He brought his thumb up to my cheek and wiped away the tear. It was this moment I actually took a proper look at him his hair was still blonde as ever, his eyes still piercing blue the difference was he lost his chubby cheeks and his jaw so defined it could cut through glass. He was actually really attractive now.

I shivered at that idea and stood up

"Im gonna go to bed, it's starting to get late" I responded quickly. He agreed and followed me inside. I took the hair tie around my wrist and threw my hair into a high ponytail then headed towards the stairs, Leo closely behind. As I was about to hit the last step I felt a sharp tug at my hair almost making me fall backwards down the stairs

"Are you taking the shit?!" I raised my voice at Leo, him just smirking and holding back a laugh. It was to good to be true for us to be getting along straight off the bat.

"I had to, your hairs so fucking long now, better than that bowl cut you sported in grade 8" I glared at him

" FYI -" I then flicked his forehead him flinching his hand to the spot "ow" he said

"I did not have a bowl cut you were hallucinating you.. you..." he raised his eyebrows and smirked waiting for me to come up with a name

"Uuuuuugh you're so unbelievable DiCaprio" I said storming off him laughing behind me. I was wondering why he followed me until I realised his room was actually directly across from mine. Great just great i mentally screamed
