and i cannot control it (the way you're making me feel)

"What is it?"

"Well I'm not too sure, but my aunt told me this story of how she and her husband met and it involved a goose."

Pat tilts his head. "How does that apply—"

"She calls it a soulmate goose, because it leads you to the person you're supposed to be with."

("That's such bullshit," Pran scoffs.

"Shut up," Pat replies.)

Korn rambled on, explaining how one day his aunt was walking to work and a goose began following her. When they passed a certain street, the goose bit his aunt's skirt and pulled her away from her route and then, like the scientist she is, she decided to roll with it and let the goose tell her where to go. It led her to a man and they've been together ever since.

After this happened, his aunt looked up similar stories and found that it's quite common. She then volunteered with research teams and the like and they seem to be making good progress on this new discovery.

"I promise it's legit man," Korn said, taking out his phone. He went on google and searched soulmate goose and a list of research articles and youtube videos came up. The phenomenon mostly takes place in America, but it started to travel across the world.

And, of course, Pat believed him. His chest brimmed with hope, thinking back to all of the romance stories he's consumed throughout his life. He couldn't believe something like that was happening to him. A smile took over his face. "So this goose will bring me to my soulmate?" he asked.

Korn nodded.

"How do I know when I've found them?"

Korn shrugged. "They're still researching all of the science behind it." He then put his hand on Pat's shoulder and opened his mouth to say more words of encouragement when the goose hissed and ran at Korn.

Korn jumped back like a cat as far as he could, his ponytail almost fuzzing-up in freight. When the goose calmed down and Korn's breath returned to normal, he quirked a smile. "I guess that's how."

Pat hummed in agreement. The goose then nipped Pat his pant leg ("It's a good thing I'm wearing pants today.") and said, "Guess this is my cue to leave. Thanks Korn! I'll pay next time we get food." Pat slowly shimmed toward the bathroom door.

Korn waved it off. "You don't need to pay me back, just let me be the first person to meet your soulmate!"

"Definitely!" Pat beamed and sent his bestie a mini heart before leaving.

He then walked all around campus with the goose like he was playing a game, asking the goose if he was warmer or colder.

The goose obviously didn't reply, but would hiss or nip at Pat if he went in the wrong direction or if he was walking too slow.

An hour later he found Pran.

"So you really think this goose is going to lead you to your soulmate?" Pran asks, his eyes squinting seriously.

"Yes! Let me show you the articles—"

"There's no need," Pran says, putting his hands over Pat's to push his phone down. "Even though it sounds fictional, I believe you. I've known you long enough to know you always find the best sources." By the end Pran's voice comes out small and clipped. Like he's holding back.

He lets out a breath and takes a step away from Pat. "I should let you get on with it now, huh? You probably don't want to spend your whole day being herded by a goose."

Despite his reluctance, Pat shrugs. "I'd let a goose herd me around for an entire week if it means I get to find the love of my life."

Pran's face does that weird thing. Where he sucks in his lips for a moment before letting them rest and his eyes go all doe-like.
