Aegon, King Viserys I Targaryen and Queen Consort Alicent Hightower's oldest son, their second son, Aemond, their youngest daughter, Rhaella and their nephew's Jacaerys and Lucerys were all in the dragon pit. Most of the dragons were kept their except the wild dragons on Dragon Stone.

Lucerys and Rhaella had been betrothed since they were born. A way for the two halves of the family to mend, Viserys had said. Something Alicent didn't like in the slightest. Rhaenyra had nothing against the girl, she had made Lucerys happy and that in turn made his mother happy. Rhaella was a sweet girl and Rhaenyra would not blame her for anything her mother did.

They all watched as Jacaerys' dragon, Vermax was brought out of the caves and into the main area.

Vermax had hatched from the egg that was placed in Jacaerys' cradle when he was a babe. Lucerys also had a dragon that had hatched in his cradle, Arrax. Aegon had an dragon named, Sunfyre, who had also hatched with him in the cradle. Helaena egg had hatched but the hatchling had died and she had bonded with a female dragon named, Dreamfyre. Rhaella's egg had not hatched but at the age of 4 she had bonded with a large dragon, who had remained nameless till she claimed him, though people had taken to naming him 'The Last Shadow'. He was the second largest dragon in the known world after Vhagar who was the Mount of Laena Velaryon. He had hatched from one of her clutches and had remained wild till he bonded with Rhaella. Aemond was the only one without a dragon, Rhaella had tried to make the situation easier for him, but he didn't want her pity so she stayed away.

"Let him come," one of the dragon keeps said to the others hold Vermax's chains. They did as told and took the dragons chains off.

Aegon let out an yawn as they watched. Rhaella who was standing next to her older brother gave him an unimpressed look to which he shrugged at her. She looked at Lucerys who also looked up at Aegon. She stood between her nephew and older brother, Aemond on Aegon's other side, while Jacaerys stood up front next to the dragon keepers and Vermax.

"Call Vermax to heel, Prince Jacaerys," one of the dragon keepers told her oldest nephew.

"Serve!" Vermax stopped his approach and looked at Jacaerys in the eye, who looked like he didn't know what to do next. When Jacaerys looked away, Vermax let out a roar as he moved forward making Jacaerys look back at him as he stumbled back into one of the dragon keepers, then the young dragon settled.

"Well done," the dragon keeper he stumbled into praised.

One of the other keepers brought in a goat, for Vermax. The sheep took Vermax's attention as he looked at it. He grumbled and hissed as the keeper tied it up before walking away.

Vermax stocked closer to it ignoring Jacaerys' calls, "Vermax! Vermax!"

The keeper put out a his stick, stopping the young dragon who screeched at the goat.

"Zaldrizo aoho syt aeksio sagon ao bevilza, darilaros nuhys—"

"You must hold mystery over your dragon, my young Prince," the translator spoke, "As Prince Aegon has with Sunfyre and Princess Rhaella with Viserion."

"Zijosy aot tetiri ozlettosy, toli rybagon zirylo vindilza."

"Once they're fully bound to you, they will refuse to take instruction from any other."
