A/N: IDK anything about the police force or FBI and I'm too lazy to research on it so just go with whatever I'm writing :)

"That was your ex-husband wasn't it?" Chief Michales said as he sat in front of Grey's desk.

Grey didn't answer and just went on with his work. He pulled out of the case and just handed it over to Milan. He didn't want to get involved or people would know that the man they saw was his ex-husband, but apparently, the chief knew anyway.

"He was covered in scars and burn marks, he was emaciated, and it appears that his tongue was attempted to be cut off and is now mutilated," Chief said.

Grey's eyes snapped towards the chief. The chief kept his smile to himself as he finally got Grey's attention.

"He's still under a medical coma. He'll be awake after a week," he said as he took out a piece of paper from his pocket and slid it over his desk. "Chief Hailey Morales from the FBI wants to talk to you."

"What for?" Grey asked

"You know what for. Your ex-husband was supposed to be the lead witness taking down one of the most powerful American mafias in the country. On the day he was supposed to be in witness protection, their convoy was intercepted, and was missing since then until now when we found him on a local gang's property. Chief Morales knew about your personal relationship with him before you knew the truth so she just wanted to know if you know anything," Chief said.

Grey tightened his grip on the pen that he was holding.

"I can't tell her anything more than I already know," Grey said through gritted teeth.

"You know Morales, she'll talk to you anyway. I mean, you can't really escape her since she's already outside waiting," Chief Michaels said before leaving Grey in his office.

He dropped his head on his hands in annoyance. He didn't want to deal with anything that's related to him anymore. He had let go of that years ago. Chief Morales entered his office after knocking on the door.

"Good morning, Mr. Ashford, but it looks like you're not having a good morning," Chief Morales said as he stretched her hand out for a handshake.

Grey lifted his head and looked at her hand.

"What do you want?" Grey asked as he ignored the offered handshake.

Morales retracted her hand and smiled at Grey. "I see that you're straight to the point. You were Aziel Ashford's husband correct?" she asked.

"Aziel Lake. His name's Aziel Lake," Grey quickly answered.

"I see that. Isn't that bizarre that you were married for three years yet you never knew that he was part of the mafia?" Morales said.

"I already shared everything I knew before. That didn't change then, it wouldn't change now. I have nothing else to say," Grey said.

"Do you want to talk to him?" Morales asked in a soft voice.

"No, and I'll never talk to him again and it's not like he can talk," he replied.

"He may not be able to talk, but he might be able to write. We have our suspicion that it might be his own father who ordered his disappearance," she said.

"Why are you wasitng your time here? I've already done my part years ago. I'm fucking done. I don't want to be involved anymore," Grey said through gritted teeth.

"Well, there's something that wasn't disclosed to you back then that might convince you. Look, we need someone he knows. Almost everyone who worked on his case years ago are dead or retired. He might not speak to anyone, but you," Morales said.
