“Alexandra, I'm always and always going to be here for you, no matter what. I will always be here”.
He raises his hand to caress the side of my face and I lean into his touch, closing my eyes. I open them and he's looking at me with this sweet look. Then my forehead creases.
“What happened to your face? And your nose...?”.
He instantly pulls away from me and turns around.
“Noah, I asked you a question” I say, getting up. “What happened? You've got bruises all over”.
He turns around and I'm behind him.
“Please go back to bed”.
I pull away from his hold.
“Not until you tell me what happened. Did you get into a fight with someone? You can tell me Noah. I promise I won't judge”.
He sighs.
“I know that Alexis but trust me, nothing happened”.
“But Noah, your face... ”.
“I just haven't slept... that's all”.
My forehead creases again.
“That's why it looks like you've been whacked in the face with a frying pan?”.
He chuckles.
“Look, nothing happened alright? I just have to get some sleep, then I'll be okay”.
I nod and back away.
“Okay then. If you say so”.
I turn away and begin to take off my top.
“What are you doing?” he asks.
“Nothing” I reply, zipping down my pants.
“Alexis...”.
“No, no. I just have to get some sleep, then I'll be okay” I tell him.
He rubs his eyes in frustration and sighs.
“Please cut it out Alexandra”.
I ignore him and attempt to take off my vest when he turns aways.
“Okay, okay fine!”.
And I thought Mia teaching me this trick wouldn't come in handy.
I stop and wait for him, my hands on my hips.
“Just please... get dressed”.
“Not until you tell me what really happened to your face. And you better not lie to me, or I'll go all the way”.
He glances over his shoulder and chuckles. Turning to face me, he hands me my pyjamas, not making eye contact. I put in on and sit on the bed.
“Well?”.
He sighs.
“I... tripped on a loose floorboard... and fell down the stairs”.
I stare at him in confusion.
“What stairs?”.
“Yours” he answers.
I laugh.
“That has got to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard Noah”.
He looks at me as I laugh again.
“Well that's what happened. I fell down your stairs”.
“Cause there's a loose floorboard I haven't noticed even once?”.
