McKaela is never one who ignores Josie, so with a hug that startles Josie out of her momentary trance, the equally geeky, nerdy, and incredibly heart-warming girl, at least in opinion to how Josie thinks about herself, runs her hand across the sleeve of Josie's Inquisitor costume and gives her a big smile that glitters alongside her mis-matched colored contacts, "Welcome back captain! Hey Jose, is it okay if O'Delle comes and watches us for a little while? It might increase the interest for new club members later down the line, also! I didn't know she was so good at cosplay, you should come take a look!"
Josie nods and silently places a hand on Howling Banshee McKaela as if to tell her neither of them are a match to a girl who has more than enough conviction to perfectly cosplay something she has absolutely no idea about soley so she could get compliments and internet points from those who actually do live, breathe, and love the niche fandom they find themselves in. O'Delle is the Sister of Battle through and through, and although she just barely skirts by school dress code, Josie doesn't particularly feel like making a scene by kicking the girl out, especially because she wants to interrogate the true reason she stopped by before the night is over. With a slight pause to show McKaela that she is not particularly happy about the idea of someone who only exists to serve as eye candy overseeing an intense war simulation game, Josie reluctantly agrees to let O'Delle do as she wishes. Josie sits down and begins taking out the pieces she will be using for this particular battle, and to her surprise, although she wouldn't normally due to the fact that it is common courtesy for someone who is either spectating or done setting up their own board to help someone else, O'Delle herself scoots herself on over next to Josie and helps set up alongside the girl's instruction on where each unit goes. Momentarily caught off guard, she makes eye contact with the silver-haired cosplayer and trails off mid-command and manages to clearly detect the perfume that the girl herself is wearing. The light yet fairly crisp scent of a girl walking through an autumn forest manages to take a clear slash at the butterflies roaming throughout Josie's abdomen, but they immediately multiply once the thought that she most likely made an incredibly weird face enters her mind; clearly embarrassing her enough to drop a handful of pieces and crash a bit of the progress she herself has done in setting up her army. However, as if the witch knew this would happen all along, O'Delle leans herself forward to accentuate her figure within Josie's line of sight as she masquerades this taunting manner of body language to kindly reposition the prices that had just fallen over back to where they were. Luckily the sight of Josie pushing the bangs out of her face masks the fact that she had just gotten so red in the face that her glasses frames managed to clog up, and although she definitely wanted to wear contacts like McKaela did, she was made aware before either of them came to class that they were heavily irritating McKaela's eyes since they were manufactured fairly cheaply. Nevertheless, as a part-time cosplayer, sometimes being consistent and true to source is not always the easiest, most comfortable, or particularly safest in every situation. She mostly just doesn't want the silver haired girl sneering in her line of sight to make a scene about Josie being caught off guard or finding McKaela attractive, for it is not exactly public knowledge to the entire club that Josie likes girls. As sad as it sounds, Josie is keeping her bisexuality a secret as a means to keep the high number of male members of The Board Game Club, for like most things, if one presents themselves to men as available, they will most likely flock to that person even if the activity they do is mundane. Josie believes she does have a genuine group who are all here for a good and relaxing time with friends rather than anyone having ulterior motives, but she can't help but feel self-conscious about the fact.
"Do you like my cosplay, Josie?" O'Delle snickers, making sure she pronounces her name with the half vowel half consonant that is Y.
If Josie could visibly get the annoyed anime sound effect, she would definitely be sporting the effect if she were able to recreate the image of what it looks like within her head. Nevertheless, other than giving O'Delle a stiff nod and a somewhat cold audible 'thank you', she pretty much ignores the shorter woman as she checks in on the status of McKaela's units and well-being considering it is obvious that McKaela is in the sights of O'Delle. McKaela, much like Josie herself, is the perfect fusion of an attractive girl with the healthy mind of a creative geek, and considering O'Delle is either here to coerce McKaela into becoming apart of her friend group or a girl she can fornicate with, Josie and O'Delle have a similar idea of just how attractive McKaela is. Being around the same height as O'Delle herself and trading a larger chest for a larger bottom, McKaela, although most definitely a girl of the straight orientation, would also be a woman that Josie herself wouldn't mind spending the rest of her days next to. Thick but perfectly malleable brown hair, a wide smile that glows with youth and excitement, and a pair of bronze eyes protected underneath some Ozzy Osbourne-esque frames that are currently traded out for red and blue colored contacts; Josie is proud to have a best friend who is quite the sight for sore eyes. Seeing Josie glancing over at her, McKaela gives her best friend a salute and a giggle that helps relieve the anguish that comes from believing McKaela is not going to be treated correctly by O'Delle. In due time, Josie and McKaela finish setting up their units so that they can finally begin their session of Warhammer 40k, and although the game is a little bit more casual and light-hearted than their normal sessions because of O'Delle frequently interjecting to ask about game mechanics, certain in-jokes the players have with one another, and some particularly unknowingly harsh comments about how our voice acting for the multitude of characters we play is much better than she would have ever expected, the members of The Board Game Club are able to get through a near four hour session and end with a satisfying cliffhanger before the student council begins doing their rounds and demanding the students still on campus start going home. Josie attempts to catch O'Delle on the way out to see what exactly she is up to when it pertains to her relationship with McKaela, the Skin Reaper barely just misses her as if she had planned a route to directly avoid initiating a conversation with McKaela's protective friend, so O'Delle manages to walk home with McKaela rather than the much more common, usual, and less telling that O'Delle is expecting something out of this interaction walking partner that is Josie. Nevertheless, seeing this as a rare opportunity, McKaela doesn't shy away in striking up a conversation with the similarly statured female, for unlike the trope of the nerd would suggest, not everyone who enjoys playing Dungeons & Dragons, Classic Runescape, and re-watching Battlestar Galactica is not as socially inept as everyone makes them out to be. McKaela is also quite the theater kid, so her smaller figure gives her more than enough reason to proudly project her personality for better or for worse; both of which have an immense amount of charm.
