Lucy's POV:
Six months, had it been that long?
I looked at my calendar. Yep, it was that long ago.
Goodness, I had not written to him.
I should have responded weeks ago.
I did write back at first.
Somehow, over time I got busy and did not write.
I have never forgotten him.
The last time I saw him, we held hands at the festival.
I recalled he asked me, "What am I to you?"
What did I do? I did not give him a direct answer, not really.
Then, mom, dad, and I moved away.
We packed up our stuff, along with Rex and his things, and headed to the mountains of Colorado.
It was rather rocky here, but what did I expect for a place called Boulder, Colorado?
I sighed. I missed the weather, the whole atmosphere, and everything else back home.
I missed him.
I had begged him not to leave my side. I recalled he promised not to, and I had been the one to leave.
How ironic.
I kicked a pebble into the small creek.
It was such a bore here.
I sat down and started to write.
Dear Morgan,
I am sorry, I never was good with words.
I should have written back sooner.
Things here in Boulder, Colorado are not the same.
Not without you.
I see rocks, trees, hills, and more, but I wish I would have given you the chance when I had it.
Now, it is probably too late. I mean, it has been six long months.
I could not expect you to hold the deal when I am not even there. So, if you are with another girl, I hope you are happy together. If not, then, I promise I will try to give you a better answer the next time, I see you.
So, how are things back home?
I heard Frank, and Nicole got engaged. Good for them!
Rex has gotten older, but he still loves to run, play, and lap up water as if he were a young pup. He even fitches a stick now and then.
Well, that is it for now.
Sincerely,
Lucy Crutchfield
I smiled as I tucked the letter into an envelope, sealed it, and added the stamp.
I bet he will be happy to hear from me.
Yes, I was in deep trouble because no matter how hard I tried, I could not stop thinking about Morgan Bryant.
the story continues in Bonus Chapter part 3
until then,
bye-bye, little owlets!
