Hide and Seek

Zane

I'm standing in front of the royal palace. It is a thing of beauty. Made of white marble and gold borders glittering in the sun.

Normally I would be in awe of it but right now I just dread the place. If anyone finds out about my identity as an ex-teacher of the academy the duchy would drown in controversy and I would attract all the attention and everyone knows I hate unnecessary attention.

'Sigh' 

I take a deep breath and walk in following the royal butler escorting me

He leads me to a garden where i see everyone already present.

Princess Cecily, Xavier, Kaiden, Nicholas and Hayden are seated at a white table.

Hayden notices me first and immediately gets up. The others after this notice me coming too  

As I approach all of them get up

''Lord Zane you are here!'' The princess squeals

I bow, offering my respects

''Thank you for inviting me. It is an honour'' No it isn't, this is torture.

She waves a hand dismissively ''Please. you are always welcome here. Come let us have some tea''

I nod. As we all take our seats the servers pour in our tea. I'm about to thank my server when im rudely interrupted by ''You are late. Why are you late?'' Hayden asks scowling.

This little shit-I ought to-'calm down Zayn. Calm'

I ignore him and turn to my sever first ''Thank you'' i say, the server smiles politely, bows and turns to leave

I turn around to see Hayden scowling at me.

''I don't believe i am late Lord Hayden, I was here by 11'' I say to the brat

He scowls harder before he can say anything Kaiden speaks ''11:04''

I blink ''What?''

''11:04. You cam here at 11;04.'' Kaiden says

I cant believe they paid attention to something so trivial. Were they staring at the clock every minute till I arrived? [Author: That's exactly  what they were doing]

Possible. They always want to get me in trouble anyway[Author:ughhhhh My own ideas irritate me. Zane be dense af]

''Well um,,'' I dont even know what to say to this weird observation of theirs ''..the royal palace is so big, i assume it took us 4 minutes to get to the garden'' I smile.

Princess Cecily laughs while the other 2 look at me weird.

''That is true. I used to get lost when I was little'' She says laughing

I join in ''That I can see happening''

''Oh it did! I would get lost while playing all types of games too especially hide and seek. Xavier would always be the only one could find me though. After a point i wasn't allowed to play hide and seek without him'' she laughs recalling 

I too laugh at the image of young Xavier and Cecily playing hide and seek. Its kinda...cute? 

It gets me wondering what they all looked like when they were young and less rude?

''I guess that means the Prince is very good at finding people'' I jest

I look at him and he looks at me with such an intensity in his eyes that it has me drawing back a little. With a smirk on his face he says ''Oh yes, Lord Zane..'' he basically smolders as he speaks. his voice sounding deeper than usual ''..Im VERY good at finding hidden people''

''I taught my friends too. There is  No one we cant find.''

I look around the table and see Princess Cecily's genuine smile and then turn to see the other 3 looking at me like they know something or everything.

I shiver. Shit. I just landed in very deep water.
