"I.. Want to hear you sing"
6 simple words, but they have such a strong effect on the woman hearing them.

Its not like this is a new request nor anything special to the ordinary person, besides it being from a sunchild. The ruler- yeah.. ruler of Enkanomiya at this time.

Clymene looked up at the child as he repeated the words once again

"Please, can you sing for me? Just once"
He begged, lyre in hand.
"I promise I wont make fun of you if your voice is bad, I'll play for you too. Please?"

The woman could only smile and shake her head, who knows what would happen to them if she dared to speak. They'd know, they always knew

Orupeusu could only look down in disappointment, there looked to be a lot on his mind from the look in his eyes. Clymene would know best, she was who raised him after all

"I have a terrible feeling about tomorrow I beg you please just once- I- I swear never to sing again until I hear you do so!"

It took a minute to process what was said, yet she could only shake hear head again and pat the child's shoulder. As much as the caretaker felt bad for now robbing Orupeusu of his hobby knowing the date that will follow this interraction there wouldnt b e time to change either one's mind

Orupeusu put his lyre to the side and sat next to the other, leaning against her for any sort of comfort. All that Clymene was permitted to do is put her arm around the child as a sort of hug which was given to her by him, now trembling

"I-I heard them talk about tomorrow- what will be done t-to me?.."
The child sobbed, clearly afraid of his fate. No words were heard after that for a long time from either of the two

After some time he'd eventually calmed down, moreso out of exhaustion catching up to him.

"You know.. I've been seeing kids out with their parents a lot more recently. Before I was seen around they looked so happy. Did I ever have any? From the descriptions I hear you're like a parent to me. The closest thing at least.. Please dont leave me alone"

The child's grip tightened on Clymene as she gave another nod to reassure him she has no plans of leaving him alone. She's come to view him as her own child, closer to her than blood relations ever could be.

as the clock struck midnight, Orupeusu had started drifting off for one last time. Clymene was playing with his hair for comfort and to help lull him to a peaceful sleep for the last time ever.

The next day, a new sunchild had been chosen and a new royal tomb was set into the ground of Enkanomiya, Orupeusu left to be forgotten in the history of this dark place where no sunlight will ever show

'Here lies Orupeusu no Mikoto, who was skilled in music as a youth, specializing in playing the lyre. His voice was so lovely that even the very earth would be moved.'
