[ Chapter Twelve ]

[ Movie 1 - The Princess Diaries ]

I USHERED MIA OUT OF THE OFFICE, allowing my father to enter in the process but I knew Aunt Clarisse wouldn't mind. I frowned at her retreating figure, hoping that she would be alright with everything happening. I quickly closed the door and walked back to the chair, sitting down on it so the three of us can discuss our next step while Charlotte was briefing Mia outside.

"If I may say so, that did not go very well." Dad told Aunt Clarisse, gripping the top of the spare chair in the office

"Is this the way a princess should act?" She asked him in disbelief, holding up the newspaper to him

"My information tells me that boy was using her. The kiss was merely a device so that he could get his 15 minutes of fame." Dad revealed to us and I wasn't surprised, given what Helen had told me about Josh

"Aunt Clarisse, she barely found out she was a princess, she doesn't have a life-time training like I do. And I agree with my father, I remember Helen telling me that Josh was never really nice to her." I revealed afterwards, leaning back in my chair with a heavy sigh escaping my lips

"And her friends didn't help, either. Ana, Falana, Banana, Bandana, Montana..." My Dad started listing off names making me confused

"I have no idea who you're talking about, Dad. I thought her only friends are Lilly, Michael and Jeremiah." I admitted to the both of them with a frown, wondering if somehow I did miss a few people in the group

"Why didn't she have enough common sense to deal with this?" Aunt Clarisse asked us sternly, nodding her head to the newspaper

"She's only 15...but today, she acted beyond her years. She showed great respect and gracefully accept your criticism and she did what she thought was right, allowing Gwyn be the Queen of Genovia." Dad added and Aunt Clarisse leaned back on her seat

"You're saying that as the Dowager Queen, I was too harsh on her. I was critical of the person who could become the next ruler of my country." Aunt Clarisse reminded him as she went to stand up, walking over to him

"No, I'm saying as a grandmother, you might have been too harsh on your granddaughter." Dad corrected her, as they stared at one another making me sigh quietly which caught my aunt's attention

"Gwyn, do you think she can do it?" My aunt asked, but her gaze never wavered from the eye-contact she was having my Dad

"Oh, I have no doubt, Aunt Clarisse. She just might need a little more training." I informed her and she nodded her head at my words

"I thought so, too." Aunt Clarisse revealed to us both and I wondered to myself, if I really wanted the throne all along or if it was just the pressure from everyone in Genovia

**Genovia's Royalty**

"Are you sure you don't want to be here with us when we show Mia the gift?" I asked my Dad curiously as he walked me inside the Thermopolis home

"I'm positive, I think this is something that needs to happen between her grandmother and herself, and you for moral support." My Dad told me and I nodded my head at him, before I watched head him back to the limousine to pick Mia up from school

I took a deep breath and took out the pouch, and set it down gently on the table. Aunt Clarisse came over to stand beside me but we didn't dare to open it. I had never seen what was inside since Aunt Clarisse had found this in her Phillipe's vault in Genovia before we came out here.
