Okay so you can pretty much always tell when a British book was written by an American writer, because they almost always use American terms, for example:

Corridor: Hallway

Wardrobe: Closet

Sat Nav: GPS

Dinner hall: Cathetiria

Jumper: Sweater

Underwear/knickers: Pants

Peng: Shortie?

999: 911

Cheese toastie: Grilled cheese.

Shopping centre: Mall

Pavement: Curb.

Tube: Subway.

Mum: Mom

And the usual spelling. (Some words are spelt differently in America and Britain)

I don't know if it's just me, but I find it kinda annoying if I when to see it.
