Royal Pain~ Eustass Kid x Reader

Distracted

He was... Distracted? Kid frowns at himself as he catches himself looking at the castle again. Since the incident yesterday he couldn't seem to focus on anything. It bothered him that someone, a <i>princess</i> would come to aid him. He groans, rubbing his temple. '<i>I need to get off this damn island...</i>' He thinks to himself, standing up. '<i>Wonder if I'll see her--</i>' Kid swiftly shakes his head swiftly. '<i>Stop thinking about <b>her</b>! She's a princess! I'm just a pirate!</i>' He scolds himself before heading. He walks aimlessly through the kingdom streets, eyes drawn to the castle often.

"HaHAHa! I'm GoNNa SnAG Me A pRinCEss!" A drunken voice catches his ear as he passes a tavern. Kid's eyes narrow and he approaches the tavern, peering in to see a disgusting old pirate making lewd gestures grinning pervertedly. "BeT ShE'S a ReAL QuEEn iN BeD! I cAN't wAIt To-" He never finished as Kid's fist connects to his face, sending him through the wall. There's a stunned silence, and Kid blinked in surprise. Why did his body move on it's own? The old pirate tries to get up, but Kid's glare pins him in place.

"Shut yer' mouth old man." He growls, feeling a murderous rage toward the older man. The older pirate flinches as Kid takes a step toward him. A hand on his chest stops Kid's approach. He looks over with a slight glare at the owner, only to stop in surprise. (E/C) Orbs meet his reddish brown eyes.

~Your P.O.V~

You had been in the tavern the whole time, listening to the drunken pirate's boasting, and mentally deciding where to cut him if he ever challenged you. Then Kid flew in and punched the old man! You were both surprised and impressed. Though you would've liked to have watched him lay into the other pirate, the barkeeper looked terrified, so you deciding to intervene.

"Easy Mr. Kid, a drunkard is not good enough for your wrath," You murmur so only he could hear. Surprise flashes through his features, followed by a dust of pink. "Come on, maybe a walk will cool you down," You add softly lightly turning him to the door. He doesn't object as you escort him out and doesn't speak as you both walk away from the tavern. You start to giggle once it's safe. Kid looks over in surprise at the sound.

"What's so funny?" He inquires with a slight blush.

"That guys face! Hehehe! It was so great! Like this!" You mimic the old pirate's face after Kid hit him. Kid snickers at the face.

"Heh, was it?" He muses. You nod and giggle again.

"And you were so intimidating! That was awesome!" You breathe, feeling oddly excited about the whole event, giving Kid a broad smile. He blushes at the comment.

"You sure you're a princess?" He asks. You chuckle at that.

"Yep, and a useless one at that," You comment. He gives a slight frown.

"Why do you say that?" He questions.

"Well, a princess who can't be married off and have kids is useless in my father's eyes," You admit with a dismissive wave. Kid scowls at that and stops walking. You stop as well, turning to him. "It's fine though, I'm sure he'll find use for me somehow." You add.

"What the hell? That's the stupidest damn thing I've ever heard!" He bursts, surprising you. "Why the hell is that the only thing you're useful for!? You can stand alone, you don't need a prince to come do whatever he wants with you! You're more than that! And that power! You're... You're amazing! Youre father is an idiot if he can't see that!" He rants, and you stare at him in shock, ears burning at his words. Why was his angry outburst making your heart beat so oddly. A small smile forms on your lips and he stops his rant. He blushes as he recalls everything he said.

"Thank you," You breathe. He blinks and looks down.

"Don't thank me...." He grumbles. You smirk.

"Sure are a stubborn guy aren't you?" You muse.

"Yeah, I'm told that," He says, rubbing his neck. You step forward and kiss his cheek, making him stiffen.

"I'm not surprised... Well, have a nice night Mr. Kid. I should be heading back now," You say before walking away, leaving the stunned pirate to watch after you.

~Kid's P.O.V~

"Are... You okay captain?" Killer asks, catching his captain staring off into space yet again. Kid blinks and look at him.

"What?" He huffs, seeming a bit unhappy about being pulled from whatever world his mind was in. Killer pauses in surprise.

"You've been out of it since the princess took you to the infirmary," The masked blond comments. Kid shifts and blushes slightly, looking away.

"I don't know what you're talking about..." He grunts. Killer taped beneath his mask, the response made it obvious.

"You <i>like</i> her!" Killer realizes, making his captain flush a shade he never seen before. Heat and Wire look at him in surprise at that.

"Tch! What the hell are you talking about? There's no way!" Kid bursts, swiftly standing up and knocking his chair over.

"Kid, if you like her then why not just take her?" Killer suggests. Kid blushes darker at that.

"Wh-what the hell Killer!?" Kid gasps.

"Not like <i>that</i>!" Killer says, trying not to laugh.

"<i>Oh</i>," Kid mutters, looking away.

"Wow captain, that's not like you to get so worked up about a girl." Killer comments, smirking under his mask. Kid turns away at that, clicking his tongue.

"What ever, I'm going for a walk," He grunts going out. His crew share a knowing look.

"Think he'll do it?" Wire asks.

"Probably not," Heat and Killer answer.

Kid walked down the streets, rubbing his temple, not paying attention to where his feet took him. '<i>Dammit, why can't I get her out of my head!?</i>' He wonders with a slight sigh.

"Princess! I challenge you for your hand in marriage!" A call catches his ear. He looks up to find he was now in front of the castle gates. You sat on top of the arch, looking down at the pirate that had made the declaration. Boredom was evident on your face.

"Fine, I hope you don't mind losing your hand if you lose," You respond. The response made Kid smile.

"Holy shit... I'm in love," He realizes in amazement.
