Waking up this morning I can tell today probably isn't going to be the best day. I barely slept despite being exhausted after last night so now not only am I sleep deprived, but I have a pounding headache too. This morning I had planned to go to the library to go through one of the Russian novels 'Pikovaya Dama' I need to read through for my next assignment, but I think I'm going to be better off spending the morning relaxing, otherwise I probably won't make it to my 1pm lecture. Plus I have that dinner tonight with my dad and I don't want to disappoint him by being all miserable. I roll over and take my phone off charge then decide to watch an episode of The Big Bang Theory before I go for breakfast.

One episode soon turns to five as I check the time and realise that it's already 11:30am. I know I should eat something but at the moment the thought of food is making my stomach turn. It's fine, I'll take a snack to eat on the way to my lecture I tell myself. I crawl of bed and turn on my shower, quickly brushing my teeth as I wait for the water to heat up. After about 20 minutes I went back to my room to get changed, and decided just to throw on something comfy. I'd get ready for dinner properly after my lecture, so I just put on something like this.

By the time I had gotten changed, packed my bag and sorted out my hair it's time for me to head off to my lecture

By the time I had gotten changed, packed my bag and sorted out my hair it's time for me to head off to my lecture. I still feel quite sick so I try to eat half the cereal bar I picked up, but it's just making me feel worse so I put the rest in my bag for later. As I'm walking I get a text from Yas.

Hey Y/N I'm really sorry I have a crappy cold so won't be in the lecture today, hope it goes okay x

Great. I really needed Yas today to distract me . We've become really good friends since that first lecture and we usually go for coffees together after seminars. I do hope she's alright though, so stop and quickly text her back.

No worries I hope you feel better soon! x

When I get to the lecture theatre most of the class are already sat down so I pick a seat fairly close to the door instead of my usual place. I briefly look around and catch Miss Romanoff watching me get my laptop and textbook out, she's probably wondering where Yas is. For some reason it's so loud in here today. Maybe it's always been this loud and I just haven't noticed it because I've never been alone before. I can still feel Miss Romanoff still staring at me as she starts introducing the lecture. She talks through some of the common grammatical mistakes that we had made in our first assignments and I sit trying to listen, but all I can think about is how sick I feel, and my throat is so dry to the point that it burns so I reach down to grab my water only to realise I've left it on the kitchen table.

"So your next assignment will be based on this classic Russian text, which you all have access to in the library, there is an online version you can access as well." She carries on.

I start making a few notes about what I need to do for my next assignment. It is so hot in this room I knew I shouldn't have worn a jumper I think to myself. I fiddle with the hair bobble on my wrist to try and distract myself but my skin is tingling and it feels like someone is pushing down on my chest. I need a drink, I really need a drink. I look up at the clock, you've only got one more hour I mouth to myself. One more hour then you can call Leah and go home. I carry on typing as Miss Romanoff talks about the novel but I can't focus. It's fine, I'm at the back near the door I can leave quietly no one will even notice.

I get up and walk out of the theatre leaving all of my stuff inside. There are a few people inside the building so I walk quickly to Miss Romanoff's office knowing it would be empty, hoping it would be unlocked. Thank god it is I think as I go in, close the door behind me and sit down next to the bin just to be prepared. I shut my eyes trying to focus on my breathing, but the breathing techniques my councilor taught me aren't working, and I can't hold back the tears filling my eyes anymore. I didn't even notice the door starting to open.

"Y/N?"

I look up and see Miss Romanoff coming into the room.

"Darling it's okay." She shuts the door locking it, walks over to her desk, picks up her bottle of water and then sits down on the floor opposite me.

She takes hold of my hands. "Y/N you are hyperventilating I need you to breathe with me okay."

I manage a small nod and she starts counting as I breathe shakily in and out.

"One, two, three, four, five, breathe out, one, two, three, four, five," She repeats.

Eventually I start to calm down and stop crying, and she hands me the bottle. "Here drink some water," she says.

"Are you sure, you don't have to give me your -"

"Y/N it's fine please you need a drink." I take her bottle and gradually sip the water as she shifts to sit next to me.

"Thank you," I murmur as I turn to look at her. She is staring back at me with a concerned almost hurt look on her face. She pulls me into a hug and I collapse into her shoulder.

"You are okay, you are safe here with me," she says as she runs her fingers through my hair. My eyelids hang heavy as my muscles relax and I fight the urge to sleep.

"It's okay Y/N." She hums still stroking my hair.

Soon everything is quiet.
