As Candi bolted inside of the room again and slammed the door behind xyr before leaping back into bed, xe gasped pretty worriedly. Xe... left her outside.
"Oh no. Sis..."
"Huh? Wh-what's up?"
"No-nothing. Just tidy up and... get to sleep. We can discuss this in the morning."
"Okay... I'll start on that now!"
-
The scarf had tripped up on the last few stairs of her own attempt at a getaway, but she didn't exactly have extendable legs to bump her up the stairs in an instant.
Mostly meaning TK, the angered object who gave cause to the pair, had caught up to the now slightly injured scarf. She... didn't want to resort to this. Sighing a bit, she had went up and picked the scarf up.
"We're just... going to take you back to Fan for now."
The scarf couldn't respond much as she was carried back to the room of her father figure, him being at the door at the time it was.
"Yeah? What's up?"
"I think you need to have a bit of a talk with Velvet here about staying up and sneaking food. That other one of yours as well, yeah?"
"I'll do it. Sorry for the trouble."
Accepting the scarf back as TK left, Fan had walked back to the bed and began to talk carefully to the frail VS.
Though before he could do much, he had been caught off by the scarf making a noise that could only be a huff of denial.
The paper object had grown curious at her anger, trying to talk again but being cut off by the same sound. Multiple times, no less. Strange...
But he admitted he had to be a little strict with her.
"Velvet. You can't stay up like this all the time, it's not good for you at all. Now just... lie down and try to go to sleep."
The scarf had whimpered a little, as she seemed hardly used to the denial and strictness. So in the end she had obeyed and curled into bed, but struggled to get past that one vital step:
Actually sleeping.
Sure, it was comfy and swell but she couldn't handle it. Her eyes just didn't want to close and let her calm down, and she really struggled to understand that kind of feeling.
Almost like she was painfully poorly, unable to contain her frail self. That, and how she didn't even know if she had trust anymore...
Why. She didn't have any other questions that could be said as why.
Like, for example. Why did she suddenly feel so angry and reluctant when it came to being talked to? She just didn't want to accept Fan's help anymore, just why? Why was all of this going on?
Why... why does she not feel like it's where she belongs anymore... the fact she wanted to cry, but couldn't. Wanted to run off, do anything that could get her mind of this...
It was confusing. So why?
The scarf's mind found it impossible to wander, move or even dare to do anything. Think of being stiff from sleep paralysis, just minus the big scary shadow things.
Really... it was a sensation that could only pass as feeling trapped. This couldn't be right... this being her home couldn't be right.
But her body spared her of any more complex thoughts and quickly shoved her into sleep.
-
Morning. The scarf's body seemed to have performed an odd personality change of sorts during the night. She still appeared to know and trust everyone, it was just that she seemed more...
Reclusive? Or... maybe... actually, how COULD you put it?
The friendliest of faces made her shy away, and even the most accidental of bumps or nudges made her act like it was the end of the world. For her, at least.
It was such a curious display of change even when all that happened the night before was her being told off for pulling that stunt. Her sister (and more or less non-related brother) had been talked to already and accepted their actions.
Maybe that would work for her. So taking some time away from everyone else, Fan had arranged a small list of boxes on a sheet of black paper and set the scarf in front of them.
"Okay. Point at this one for yes, and this one for no. So then..."
He had went through a safe way of showing her what was wrong about that. He had specifically asked her about was she pressured into doing it, did she think it was a good idea and would she do it again.
A no, yes and no respectively. He could tell she was genuine, so he took the paper back and patted her head softly. "There we go, that's better. Now then, can I see the Velvet I know?"
She tilted her head in confusion. But the fan smirked warmly as the familiar vial of green acid had actually started sneaking up on her from behind and eventually scooping her up in glee. "Ha! Got ya!"
The return of her had gotten a happy look to return to Velvet Scarf's mouthless face, Fan smiling back in return. "Looks like you're back! How's that going for you?"
"Oh, you mean those tailored crutches Tissues wanted me to make due to how he is and all? Going great, I'm gonna give him a test run of them later."
"Guess that's what kept you so busy... you know he's got a lot more than just that chronic pain... but still! Glad to see you using that science skill of yours for the better."
"It's a start. And hey! You say that like I don't?"
The two shared some cheerful laughter at the situation, the scarf joining in since she saw it as a happy thing. It would be weird not to.
"Right then! Bit of adoptive family time before I'm back to business?"
The fan and scarf had livened up more, happily going off to find the older sibling of the scarf.
Things seemed nice again now.
