Chapter 19 (Trigger Warning)

Start from the beginning

Jamie constantly had his arm around her.

Now, McKayla sat in her mom's car, bawling her eyes out. Her favorite band was blasting through the stereo. She felt like she could relate to the lyrics as she drove down the road at least twenty miles faster than the speed limit would allow, if not thirty.

You say our love is like dynamite

Open your eyes

'Cause it's like fire and ice

Well you're killing me

Your love's a guillotine

Why don't you just set me free...?

Too young to fall in love (x6)

Words could not express how terrified McKayla was right now...But if she did this, her friends and family would be safe. Sophie would be safe.

Chris would be safe.

McKayla rolled the windows down as she drove, letting the wind blow in her hair and her ace. It smelled nice. It smelled like spring.

At the same time though, McKayla didn't like it...If she was going to do this, she was going to do it her way.

McKayla stopped at a stop sign, then quickly puts her hair up in a high pony tail, like she usually had it. She then looks at the bracelett on her wrist and sighs. She wipes her tears, then looks back up. She grips the steering wheel with both hands...

Then floors the gas as hard as she can.

"How's writing coming?" Frank asks Chris.

"I've got something for the instrumental part for sure...But I'm really struggling with the lyrics." Chris says. "Whatever. I'll figure it out later. You guys set up?"

Before any of them could answer through, they hear a loud screeching sound; like a speeding car coming to a sudden stop.

"What the Hell was that?!" TJ asks.

Balz looks over at the car that had just pulled up in front of Chris' house, "Is that Kelly and Carlie?"

Everyone looks over and sees Kelly and Carlie quickly get out of Kelly's car and run to the garage as fast as their legs would carry them. They were both crying.

"CHRIS!" Carlie screams.

"Woah woah woah, what happened?!" Angelo asks.

The girls run over and hug their boyfriends, both of them sobbing. Carlie, however, was wailing. She was shaking in Chris' arms.

"Carlie?! What is it?!" Chris exclaims.

Carlie couldn't even talk because she was crying so hard.

Chris' mother then walks out, having heard all of the commotion, "What's going on?" She asks.

"It's McKayla." Kelly speaks up, "She was in a car crash."

Everyone's eyes widen.

Carlie finally swallows and speaks, "It's bad, Chris." She says, "It's really, really bad. We drove passed the crash."

"Did someone hit her?" Angelo asks.

"We don't know!" Kelly cries, "Her car was wrapped around this tree. We recognized the licence plate and the decorations hanging from the mirror...It was her."

Chris' mother speaks up, "Was Sophie with her? Does she even know?"

"We don't know. It didn't look like there was anyone else with McKayla; but we couldn't really see much passed the ambulances and the police, and..."
