Episode 26: A night in the Inn

Pika and the Plantars stood in front of a giant block of ice that is blocking the pass out of the valley. "Well, Pika, I don't wanna say I told you so." Hop-pop said, "bullshit. Yes, you do." Pika replied, deadpanned, knowing that what Hop-pop said was not true. "Okay, you're right. I told you so. Still gonna be a few weeks before that snowpack melts." Hop-pop explained, Pika groans in annoyance and they clenched their fists in anger and punched the ice wall "Fucking SHIT! I waited for so long and leaving the valley might help me find my friends!" Pika complained "and find a way back home..." They added "I know it stinks, but how about some careless misadventuring to take your mind off it? I think there's a creepy lagoon nearby." Sprig suggested, "hm, we might find some gory shit!" Pika said getting distracted from their annoyance "Here's hoping." Sprig replied, the 2 then run off, "And while they're doing that, I'm gonna check out this scary forest." Polly said before getting picked up by Hop-pop "Oh, no, you don't. Not by yourself." he told Polly "But why not?" Polly asked "'Cause you're a pollywog. You're too young to go off on your own." Hop-pop answered "But the other kids did." Polly argued, then a creature screech could be heard "Run!" Pika yelled in the distance, Sprig and Pika then quickly hopped on when they got back to Bessie "Hit the gas!" Pika yelled, they Plantars were confused by what Pika meant but Pika didn't let them ask "JUST GO!" Pika commanded, they then drove off, Sprig and Pika looked back for a minute before relaxing "Damn... who knew leeches are fast!" Pika said breathless "Or had legs?" Sprig added "Glad I got to see them, though." Pika said "Truly a once in a lifetime experience." Sprig pointed out, Polly sat between the 2 and got annoyed as the 2 talked about the adventure they just had, Bessie sputters and stopped "Oh, shoot. Snail trouble, everyone. Snail trouble." Hop-pop pointed out "Hmm. Stranded, eh? Well, couldn't have picked a nicer day." Sprig said but then it immediately began raining, Hop-pop tried to check the problem with Bessie but slipped "Whoa. Dang it. It's too darn muddy for me to squeeze under Bessie to see what's the trouble." Hop-pop said "Hey, I can fit under Bessie." Polly points out "No, you stay up there where it's safe." Hop-pop declined, Polly huffed annoyed, Pika was running around having fun in the rain when they noticed something "Oh hey, there's a bed and brekky down the road" Pika points out as they pulled their hood over their head so they could see. "brekky?" Sprig questioned "oh yea... that's Australian slang... breakfast. brekky is short for breakfast, things get shortened like that often in Australia, like the barbecue is the barbie, a biccy is a biscuit and-" Pika began explaining but Hop-pop cut them off "Forget it. We ain't spending coppers on lodging when we've got a perfectly fine tent--" but as Hop-pop went to set it up the wind picked it up and it flew away "welp, there goes the tent" Pika said as they watched it fly away "All right, B&B it is. But no extras. Hang tight, Bessie. We'll find you a comfy place to rest in a jiffy." Hop-pop said, giving in, 

The Plantars all ran, but Pika just calmly walked behind, enjoying the rain. They opened the door to the B&B and was amazed by how cozy it looked. "Wow." Hop-pop uttered."Look at this place. So cozy." Sprig pointed out, Pika removed their soaked hoodie and caught up with the Plantars as Hop-pop rang the little bell on the front desk, 2 elder frogs came out from the back "Oh, hey there. Welcome to the Dandy Lion B&B. I'm Teddy. This is my wife, Martha." Teddy greeted them." Please, warm yourselves by the fire." Martha said kindly. The Plantars and Pika all sat near the fireplace. "Oh, well, that sounds nice." Hop-pop said as he sat down, "Yes, please! hey, I haven't met your species." Pika said as they sat down, leaving their hoodie near the fireplace to dry. "Same to you, dearie. We're horned bullfrogs." Martha replied. "Oh, so not from around these parts?" Hop-pop asked. "Yeah, we travelled here a long time ago, and just, you know, fell in love with the area. Isn't that right, sweetie?" Teddy answered. "Oh, we sure did." Martha agreed. "So, I take it you'll be needing some rooms?" Teddy asked the visitors. "Just one, please. We'll all pile in." Hop-pop told the sweet horned bullfrogs."Oh, no need. We only have a couple of guests tonight, so the inn is mostly empty." Teddy assured .We'll make you a deal. Four rooms for the price of one. What do you say?" Martha adds, the kids all cheered. "I won't have to share with someone! YES!" Pika cheered, Polly was hopping around cheering as well, but Hop-pop picked her up. "Thanks. But we only need three. Polly here'll be bunking with me." Hop-pop said."What? Aw, Hop Pop!" Polly complained, Martha placed down a plate of cookies that seem to be bug free "Here's some fresh cookies." She said, Sprig ran up and started shoving cookies into his mouth."And we'll go put your snail in the barn." Teddy told the Plantars, "Thank you." Hop-pop thanked, Pika, Hop-pop and Sprig fought over the cookies, Polly groans at this, and surprisingly, she doesn't eat any, despite being addicted to sweets.
