"..." Michael didn't know how to respond over the phone.
"Is this a subject I shouldn't have brought up orrrr..."Jeremy felt more panic arise. He felt his face heat up and he started sweating.
"No no. I just didn't want to explain it to you over the phone. That's all. Maybe I can explain it to you more when we hang out tomorrow? I'd like it better if you didn't actually look it up so I can explain it in better detail than what some people say." Michael confessed. He also was getting nervous because his friend was sounding nervous.
Jeremy chuckled at Michael's words. "Sure thing bro. Would you also like me to bring my switch?" Knowing the answer he already started packing it into his book bag. Today he will be able to go to Michael's world and vice versa.
"Sure thing, bud. But you need to get an online membership. One month is fine for now. It's pretty cheap."
"Alright, I'll get that tonight."
--- There's gonna be a lot of time skips in the beginning so let's just skip to after school the next day---
Jeremy got into Michael's PT Cruiser while Michael started up the vehicle. Jeremy was already feeling anxious wanting to know more about age regression. Michael saw that and patted Jeremy on the head before driving off.
Watching out the window he passed the usual neighborhood they've been living in since they were both practically infants. He saw the playground pass by, which was the place they both met. Their mothers were also friends. Before Jeremy's mother left his father. Jeremy still has been best friends with Michael. So obviously, that family was like his second family, still, he felt like it was his first family since his mother left. He felt most comfortable there.
They also passed the bakery that they both went to for years. It's their tradition that each and every holiday, counting birthdays, they both walk in and get one of their best cakes they have on sale at the time. No matter how bad the cake actually is, they split it in the middle and eat half and half. They also bought donuts. They preferably like getting headlights. which is a donut with chocolate frosting and a bit of white frosting right smack in the middle.
Passing all these places makes him feel so nostalgic when he notices them. Usually, he mostly just ignores them. Although, since he's been feeling nervous this whole time, he has been looking out the window with not much talking to Michael. It's a semi-comfortable, semi, not a comfortable feeling. Comfortable in the sense that they are best friends and both know silence is good for some things. Uncomfortable in the sense that the two friends know why.
Soon, they pulled up to Michael's house. They both got out and went into the house. His mothers are both gone during the day and don't usually come back until one or at the latest three in the morning.
They both walked down to the basement. They upgraded to a huge beanbag that is the size of the bed. So, as this is self-explanatory, they both sat on the one beanbag. Michael had an extra TV from the guest bedroom that he brought down for Jeremy to hook up his switch.
"Would you like to game for a bit before we start talking about it to calm the nerves?"
"Yeah, that is a great idea."Jeremy laughed.
They both started playing and Michael went to Jeremy's island to help out with cleaning up the island and giving some stuff to him to help him out on his quest of getting KK Slider into the game.
They both played around for a while until they both got bored of the game and there was nothing else to do at that moment. They both turned off their switches. Michael swiveled himself so he was facing Jeremy. While Jeremy himself started getting nervous again. "Jere, look at me so I know you are listening." Jeremy sighed and faced him. "You're the one who asked so I'm here to tell you. So, it's kinda like the name suggests. This is a coping mechanism. So, this is where you mentally regress yourself to a younger mindset, so in terms, to a younger child or it could be an infant. Sometimes, it all depends on how bad your trauma is, and that is how much you'll regress. Every regression is different."
Jeremy nodded motioning for Michael to continue."Some people regress to ages 2, 3, 4, or maybe younger as in like, 1, maybe for instance. It also could be older. Different things could trigger your regression, or little space some may call it. This could either be kid shows, coloring, or toys you could like playing with."
"How does this actually help cope with things?" Jeremy questioned.
Michael smiled at him. "Well, it's to escape adult life. I know you've had a rough time lately and maybe regressing would be a great outlet for you." Jeremy blushed at his statement.
"I mean, maybe I could try..."Jeremy shrugged.
"Okay! I do have some stuff I bought after you left yesterday. Ya know. Just in case. Would you like to try anything out?" Michael brought out a small box. It has some coloring books, a paci, a couple of stuffed animals, some other coloring supplies, and a couple of kid shows. Since they don't really like the subscription movie apps and all that. Jeremy turned as red as Michael's iconic hoodie he wears to school every day.
"This seems very primitive..." Jeremy questioned. Michael laughed.
"Don't knock it until you try it."Michael shrugged. Jeremy felt really embarrassed in front of his friend.
Jeremy apprehensively and conspicuously took out the coloring book and the coloring supplies. "How would this help again?"
"Just try it. Maybe deep down, you may actually need it."
