Chapter 40 : Because... It Exasperates Me

Start from the beginning

She is disgusted by what he is doing the more she looks at him. On the other hand, Henry is trembling in terror as sweat begins to pool behind his back due to the other's screams, particularly Devon's. He wants to look there, but he also does not want to. So blood is most likely spitting everywhere. He waits for the woman in front of him to make a move, but she doesn't. Instead, she stares at him with cold ruby eyes as her hands continue to swirl around the blade. The longer he waits, the more anxious he becomes. Although he heard the rumour about this woman, which is not as brutal as Medea, it is still terrifying to be under her gaze.

The man is so deep in thought that he doesn't expect Duchess Natalie to ask him a different question.

"Why did you cheat on your wife?" for a split second, his eyes enlarged as he looked at the Duchess with a puzzled expression.

The blonde woman raises an eyebrow at him, demanding an answer. His mind was searching for a suitable response. Then it occurs to him that the Duchess probably despises infidelity.

"My wife is a wonderful woman. She is independent, and sometimes I think she doesn't need me. I often worry about what she thinks of me when surrounded by men flirting with her. Is she sorry she married me? She is a lovely lady, whereas I am a useless man here," he said while looking down, but something about that answer heated the Duchess' blood.

"True," Natalie said suddenly, in a deeper voice.

"True about what?"

"She is a lovely lady, whereas I am a useless man here," she simply said, cracking her next to the side.

"So, based on your story, you'd say you're looking for validation from another woman to feel desirable and attractive to others?" the blonde woman continues to inquire with a forceful tone.

She walks over to him, getting close inch by inch to him.

"She is a great woman, yet you choose to cheat? It's true, she doesn't need you as she can get anything by herself. It's because she wants you, not need you. Tell me a good reason you cheat on her, Henry?" she said as the dagger kept swirling in her hand, itching her to stab at any of his flesh.

She then places one finger beneath his chin and lifts his head to look at her. Again, the blonde woman stares at him, her ruby eyes filling with madness, demanding an answer as he tries to think of a good reason or explanation the Duchess wants to hear from him.

"It's all her fault. She never understands how I felt about it. I felt she was coming home late every day because--" a blade pierced his knee.

"Wrong answer," the blonde said, giggling madly as she looked at the man grunting in pain.

Duchess Medea tilts her head to the side, her gaze drawn to the blade held by the blonde at Henry's knee. She has no idea the woman dares to do that after she throws up and hesitates to kill the man after saving Isis a few days ago.

"Why don't I give you some advice for the day? Since you are brainless like the others," Duchess Natalie laughs like a maniac, amusing looking at that terrified face.

It excites her, yet felt drunk on her rage. Meanwhile, panic and feat seized Henry's brain to retort anything to the blonde woman.

"Don't blame the other person--" she smiles creepily as she pushes the blade deeper, blinded by her rage.

"When it's your fault," she said, waiting for Henry to respond.

He howled in pain, his mind numb from what to think.

"Apart from her, I don't feel good enough. That-- she makes me feel insignificant. Eve-- everyone looks so-- down on me that-- Uhm-- it makes me so angry," he barely said anything, but Duchess Smith heard him.
