Part 17

"Uh guys." You called as you stared up at the gate.

Everyone looked up and saw Nancy.

"Whatever you guys are doing, hurry up!" Steve shouted.

Erica came running towards you, Robin, Eddie, Lucas, Max and Dustin.

"Steve says you need to hurry!" She said.

"Yeah? No shit!" You yelled rummaging through Eddie's stuff.

"We're trying. We can't find anything." Max spoke.

"What is all this shit?" Robin spoke with a bunch of cassette tapes in her hands.

"What are you even looking for?" Eddie spoke entering the room.

"Madonna, Blondie, Bowie, Beatles? Music! We need music!"

"This is music!" Eddie yelled grabbing a cassette tape from Robin.

A while later Nancy came back and she cautiously climbed up the sheet rope, Steve followed shortly.

"He showed me things that haven't happened yet." Nancy said hoarsely. "The most awful things. I saw a dark cloud spreading over Hawkins. Downtown on fire. Dead soldiers. And this... giant creature with... a gaping mouth." Nancy explained as everyone sat around her. "And this creature wasn't alone. There was so many monsters. An army. And they were coming into Hawkins. Into our neighbourhoods. Our homes. And then... he showed me my mom. And Holly. Mike. And they... they were all..."

"Okay, but... he's just trying to scare you, Nance." Steve spoke. "Right? I mean... I mean, it's not real."

"Not yet. But there... there was something else."

"Please don't say you saw me." You thought panicky.

"He showed me gates. Four gates. Spreading across Hawkins."

"Oh thank God." You thought.

"And these gates, they looked like the one outside of Eddie's trailer, but... they didn't stop growing. And this wasn't the Upside Down Hawkins. This was our Hawkins. Our home."

"Four chimes." Max spoke. "Vecna's clock. It always chimes Four times. Four exactly."

"I heard them too."

"He's been telling us his plan this whole time."

"Four kills." Lucas said. "Four gates. End of the world."

"If that's true... he's only one kill away." Dustin spoke.

"Oh Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ." Eddie spoke.

"Try 'em again. Try 'em again." Steve said and Max walked to the phone.

"Anything?" Dustin asked.

"No." Max replied. "Rang a few times, then went to busy signal."

"Maybe you punched it wrong. Try again." Steve spoke.

"I didn't punch it in wrong."

"Well, I don't know."

"Dude, I think she knows how to use a phone." You spoke.

"I'm just saying, she could've typed it in wrong."

"Same shit." Max said after trying the phone again.

"How is that possible?" Lucas asked.

"Joyce has this telemarketer job. Always on the phone. Mike won't stop whining about it." Dustin explained.
