You can't stop twirling the pendant around in your fingers as you walk home. You had been kicked out of home a few years ago already. The memory of the day itself is pretty hazy, in fact, you barely remember why you were kicked out. Most likely the culmination of a lot of incidents you've gotten yourself into and not one big thing. What you do remember clearly is your birthday the month before that when your sisters gave you a little costume necklace they had bought with a month's worth of their combined allowance, and later leaving it on the dresser by accident while packing your shit as quickly as possible.
This version of it that you're currently wearing is easily worth 20 times what your sisters spent. And Azul just handed it to you. 'You're movin' up in the world, y/n.' You wonder if this was a meaningful gesture from him, or if it really was just his equivalent of giving a homeless person the spare Madol in your pocket. Whatever it might have meant to him, it meant a lot to you. In a way, you felt like you were becoming part of a family again. The sick and twisted Mostro Lounge family, where you were the adopted human child. That only made things worse, actually, since you were battling feelings for one of your 'family members.' What exactly were the chances he had a thing for you?
He was so flustered when he offered the necklace up. You start going over his behavior around you with a fine toothed comb. He really freaked out when Vil started handling you earlier that day. Speaking of which, he seemed a little insecure when he asked you what you thought of Vil during the festival. Though you suppose it could just be that Vil's looks naturally made dudes insecure. You really wanted to assure him you had no interest in Vil. Well, you were interested in receiving the free skincare he offered, but that's the extent of your interest. Besides that, he does go to an all boys school, and being around a hottie like you was probably a rare treat. Other dudes at the school lost their composure around you, too.
You continue with these unhelpful, circular thoughts until you collide with a pole on the street.
"Gahhh Fuck!!!" You yell. It hurt like a bitch. You were sure to have a big bruise on your forehead the next day. That wouldn't be good for work. A few people were staring, but no one came over to check on you. At least it broke you out of the feedback loop that was your inner monologue. Perhaps you could use an outside opinion. You power walk all the way home, eager to call one of your few true friends for advice.
Azul laid his head on his desk in exasperation. The lounge wasn't even open, there was no work to be done. He only sat there in his office so he wouldn't have to go back to that bed where she just slept. If he did, he wasn't sure if he could stop himself from burying his face in the pillow she used and smelling it all night long. How did he lose control of his life so much? First he had his whole overblot incident, now he's falling in love with his employee. His crass, combative, no-fucks-given employee. It was so bad that he gave her something for free!! It was well worth it of course, seeing how much it meant to her. But in doing such a thing, he was sure he made it obvious to her how he felt. Someone as quick witted as her was bound to realize. Well, if she knew, the only real next move Azul could logically make was to do everything he could to make her love him back.
There was only one person he could think of to help him with such a thing, and it was someone he had chewed out earlier. While he didn't exactly see Vil around girls too often, it was obvious that girls were crazy about the guy. Azul slowly lifted his body from his chair, dreading the conversation he was about to have. He left the Octavinelle dorm and set off in search of Vil.
