Personally I wouldn't recommend following this, as it's just the way I draw eyes, but for anyone who was wondering, this is how I draw eyes:

1. Add the skin colour

2. On a layer above, fill the whole eye in white (yes, I know eye-whites aren't fully white, I did warn you not to follow this)

3. On a layer above (or the same layer, really doesn't matter) fill the eye in a colour of your choice

4. Now you have a choice: add a lighter OR darker colour to either the top or bottom.. just add a variation of the base colour to half of the eye. I really can't explain this at all..
it's very important that you DO THIS ON THE SAME LAYER

6. get an üüüber dark version of the colour and do an oval-y shape for the pupil - this makes it look a lot softer/warmer than a harsh black pupil

Oh btw I cheated and used an oval tool 'cause I couldn't draw the pupil right.. 😅 don't go thinking I've got a super steady hand, it's shaky af

7. Last step! Get a REALLY REALLY REALLY LIGHT version of the base colour (but not white) and do highlights. I usually do two ovals on one side of the pupil, and a square at the bottom on the other side. I also use a textured brush, but that's just my preference, it's not necessary.
