Amayra looked into the cradle & smiled. There is truly nothing else in the world that is more peaceful for a mother than to see her child sleeping without worries. She lightly swung the cradle when the door of the room opened noisily. Amayra frowned. It was her husband at the door. "Batuk!! Dheere!! So rahi hai na??"
Batuk looked a bit disoriented to her. These days he looked very lost. He doesn't even look at his daughter & he wanted this daughter so much. Batuk walked up to her, "Amu tumne apni dawai li??"
"Nahi. Isko sambhalne ke chakkar mein bhul gayi."
"No worries. Mai lata hu."
Batuk fed Amayra the medicines & she slowly fell asleep. He ran his fingers through her hair. Amayra whimpered in her sleep. He pressed a kiss to her head & slowly got up. He walked towards  the cradle & looked at it, tears filling up his eyes. It was empty. There was no baby in it. Batuk sat by the cradle, his head burried between his knees. Five months ago everything was so happy, so great, but then suddenly, everything changed. Five months ago, a heavily pregnant Amayra was walking down the stairs when suddenly she slipped & fell stomach first. The doctors were able to revive her but the baby couldn't survive unfortunately. When the news was broken to Amayra, she went into denial & since then this cradle has been her world, where she imagines a baby daughter as he had hoped for fast asleep.
Amayra was coping with the grief by staying in her own imaginations but Batuk... He didn't have any such refuge, everyday he broke down a little bit morewedemandadid he lose his child that day, he also lost his wife in essence that dark day.
People give condolences to the mother for losing her child, a father's pain is always overlooked. No one understands that as the mother weaves the child in her womb, simultaneously the father also weaves dreams of the child in his mind.
