"Not too long, we're real close friends." Mai decided to take a seat at the kitchen table as Alicia did the same. She frowned a little at the friend title.

"Meech, go in the living room with your sister and open up the gifts we got you." Alicia shooed him off as Jada walked out of the kitchen along with Meech, "Friends huh? How did y'all meet?"

Mai and Alicia continued to chat for about twenty minutes while Meech and Jada were opening up gifts in the living room. Meech didn't know what the conversation was about.

"A family of five, huh?" Alicia smiled, getting to know the girl, "We used to be a family of four." Alicia sighed a little, knowing that she shouldn't have brought up the topic but she felt comfortable. Holiday's were always hard for her.

"What do you mean?" Mai looked at her with sympathy held in her eyes.

"Well..." Alicia trailed off a little, "My oldest son, Darius was shot and killed years ago." Mai was shocked that Meech never brought it up to her. She didn't know that he had another sibling. He only told her about Jada.

"I'm sorry to hear that, Ms. Alicia." Mai sighed a little at the thought. She couldn't imagine losing any one of her siblings. Mai was extremely overprotective of all three.

"It's okay, he's resting up in Heaven." Alicia smiled small before Meech and Jada entered the kitchen, "Mai, would you like something to drink?" She quickly changed the topic knowing Meech would be upset with her if he knew.

"Yeah, I'll just take a water." Mai was a bit confused but quickly brushed it off.

"I can't believe you're walking around with this big-headed man." Jada joked as she sat in the empty kitchen chair. Alicia grabbed a Fiji water bottle from the refrigerator and placed it in front of Mai. Alicia then went on to start Christmas dinner.

"Watch yo' mouth, Jada." Meech mugged her playfully.

"Uh uh, take that bickering into the living room. Y'all know I don't want to hear it while I'm cooking." Alicia waved her wooden spoon at her two children. Jada laughed as her and Mai stood up and made their way to the living room along with Meech.

"Meech and I are only friends." Mai laughed a little, "I'm sure he's occupied with others at the moment." She quickly side-eyed Meech who sucked his teeth. The last thing he wanted to talk about was Deedra.

"I'm finna use the bathroom." Meech mugged the two girls and headed off to the bathroom which was around the corner.

"I know you ain't referring to Deedra. To be honest, I hate her. She's raggedy and only using my brother for money." Jada shrugged before taking a seat on the couch.

"You've met Deedra?" Mai raised a brow as she took a seat next to her.

"Mhm, I don't like her. She barely spoke to me and my mom." Jada rolled her eyes, "She was up under Meechie the entire time."

Jada and Alicia met Deedra a few times before Alicia told Meech to stop bringing her to her house. She didn't agree with his decision to mess with her but she wasn't going to tell a grown ass man who to mess with. Alicia knew Meech was going to continue to make his own decisions.

"Sad to hear." Mai shook her head and decided to switch the topic, "How old are you?"

"Sixteen, I go to North Atlanta High school." Jada sighed, "I can't wait to graduate. I want to go to Spelman and major in Dance." Jada had been in contemporary modern dance since she turned three. She started loving it once she turned six. Since then, she always starred in major dance competitions in and out of school.

"Oh, my sister goes to Spelman." Mai smiled as Meech walked back from the bathroom and decided to head into the kitchen while Jada and Mai bonded. He enjoyed seeing them talk since Deedra didn't do too much of it the few times she came over.

"Really?"

"Yeah, she's a freshman." Mai nodded her head, "If you decide to go, I'll let her know."

"That's sweet, thank you." Jada smiled a little.

"Do you have any videos of you dancing? I would love to see if you don't mind."

"Girl, I got so many!" Jada laughed a little as she got up and headed over to the stack of CDs sitting on the TV standing. She put one into the DVD player which she still kept just to watch her dance routines. Jada grabbed the remote and turned on the TV and the screen filled with Jada doing a duet with her former dance partner, Anna.

The two continued to watch dance routine after dance routine. Mai was completely amazed by how good Jada was at her passion. After about three more hours of being at Alicia's house and eating a nice cooked meal, Meech and Mai left the house around five so she could get back home and spend the rest of her evening with her family.

Mai was more than happy that Meech invited her over and she got to meet his mother and little sister. She enjoyed talking to each of them. Mai was glad she didn't have to talk to Meech as much because she still didn't know how to feel about him.
