The following day I spent out and about the island making deliveries for the citizens in Silverglade. It had been something that I had made an effort to do throughout the summer as it was sum-what enjoyable and a peaceful day out for me. Today was a cooler day than it had been for the past month, possibly even the coolest for this month. Big and white puffy clouds were knitted in the sky and let small rays of sun spill out, setting a soft and angelic glow to the setting.
Pulling my phone out of my pocket which contained the list of places to visit, I checked off the list of people in Silverglade, noticing that I had one more down at Marley's Farm. I headed down that way and took some time to check up on what I had missed online; letting my reins completely loose once I left the village. Engaged, I felt a rather strong gust blow out behind me suddenly, making me turn in response. As I turned, I felt another one at my back, punching harshly at me, skipping into the grass and bushes. I looked up, watching as that soft glow had disappeared and turned into a darker and dreaded feeling. The gaps showing the blue sky had been stuffed by thick grey and murky whiteness. I put my phone away and regained contact, suddenly feeling my stomach drop deep down into me as I felt the feeling I wish I never felt again, exactly what I felt in Hollow Woods. This time, it seemed stronger and disorientating, the air thicker and muggy which made swallowing difficult. I swallowed hard, pulling suddenly on Blaze's mouth to turn him around and head towards the draw of this feeling, needing to know what it was. Whether my mind was straight, I picked up a canter, heading down onto the fields by The Mill and waiting for that feeling to get stronger, sweat beading around my neck. My legs burned and I felt useless, like my body had lost all strength as we galloped through the long streaks of grass, seeming to try and hold us back as I felt frozen in time, the field never ending which always disappeared in a blink of an eye at this speed. Balancing myself again at a trot, the feeling tapped at me, leading me towards the Old Stone Circle. I halted Blaze, my eyes flickering over everything, begging to see or feel something. I narrowed my eyes on the stone at the back, seeing as the faint pearlescent glow that the stones had had flickered, and then faded out; only the imbeddings were visible. I looked over the others, seeing that same situation with the rest, panic forming in my chest as I then noticed thai biggest thing, my heart hiding deep inside me.
They were cracking.
Looking at them made my brain send signals of pure panic and distress as the cracks got bigger before my eyes, everything fading in as I tried to focus my vision on them, hearing my own pulse echo in my ears so loudly that it made me physically ill. I then looked back up at the sky as I felt another bite by the breeze, my eyes drawn to the sudden eerie and icy feeling that controlled the air. I noticed what seemed like small specks of blue and white castings in the sky, swirling around in a circle above the Stone Circle. I quickly scurried my hands to my pockets where I fumbled for the grip of my phone, a force holding me back to grab it. I tried to steady my shaking hand but Blaze was getting unsettled beneath me, starting to wiggle. I gathered my reins and quickly trotted away, looking back at the stones, obeseriving with terror what state they were in. I quickly dialled Linda, begging for her to pick up as I started my way to The Secret Stone Circle. When her phone ventured to voicemail, I swore, tucking it back into my pocket and pressing on, the whole word seeming to swarm around me and tip upside down. I practically begged that I was imagining this, but even thinking of that word made me know that I wasn't and that the stones were off and had started to crack, losing their power to Jorvik. I was done doubting myself, something was purely going on around the island and whatever it was it had its way of playing with me and it rather enjoyed it.
