Summary Of Previous Chapter: Summer has arrived on Jorvik and has been keeping you busy with teaching lessons, working at Moorland Stables, and finding the odd time to hang out with others. Ydris has been away since early Spring and is planning to return rather soon. With much excitement, you are getting ready to see him again after so much needed time.
When I reached the top of the hill I was acting like I had never walked up one before. I had to stop and catch my breath, letting out a few as I struggled to regain myself, wishing that I had just taken out a random horse. Once I pulled myself together, I continued on, seeing the faint flags blowing in the distance in the still, very blue, light sky. Before I reached the Circus grounds, I had received messages from the group chat Linda had created. She was discussing possible things for us to do around the island now that we were 'off work' and most of them evolved around either exploring or shopping. I put in a few ideas before I put my phone away, now reaching the top of the hill. I stopped, looking around the grounds as everything seemed oddly normal, not a single thing out of sight. The tent still looked clean and secure along with the wagon and fortune tellers area. Nilmers felt different when Ydris was away, almost like someone didn't even live here; it didn't have that uneasy, underhanded, breath holding manner that it always did; if anything it felt too quiet, too quiet to be unnoticed or classified as normal. I continued to look around, some memories coming back in my mind from when I first arrived on the island and how we had met, the feelings I had felt, the development and how we had escalated from there.
Just as I was about to wrap up and make my way home, I heard the sound of what seemed like a muffled voice, more so like cries. I turned in the direction of the sound, seeing that one of the ropes of the tent had mysteriously come loose, a small figure dangling from above. I stood theyre, shocked to see that person was no other but Xin.
"What the fuck," I said, my eyes watching him as I felt my breath being taken away; partly from him being halfway off the ground, and how he had magically appeared after I had looked exactly in the spot where he was seconds ago.
From what I could see, he had gotten his foot stuck around the rope, hanging and bobbling around upside down as he waved his arms in my direction, his actions frantic. I quickly walked and then jogged towards him, my eyes flicking over him as I tried to figure out how this was possible and why he was here. Ydris had said to me that Xin would be going with him and arriving home a few days before he would.
"What did you do?" I snapped at him, his cries getting louder and more frantic. "How did you get up here?"
He didn't respond, only pointing down at the ground to where the missing rope was. I looked down, taking a double take as I had sworn that it had been attached. Having to stand on my tip-toes to reach him, I reached out and grabbed his small plump hands, holding them in mine as he squirmed, trying to get free.
"Stop moving, I'm trying to help," I said to him, watching as he listened to me, his mumbles shortly disappearing.
I then let go of him, feeling the sun beating at my back and our contact slipping, wiping my palms on my riding pants, then reaching back up to his ankle where he was tied to. I wrapped my grasp around it, having to press myself against him slightly, my chest pressed in his face. I sucked in a breath, looking down at him as he looked at me, his face flushed from either the position or from behind upside down for so long.
I grimaced, having to completely press myself against him so his face was right up against my bust, my body stiffening as I tried to quickly work my hands around the rope, managing to loosen it a bit. I pulled at it again, grunting as I was trying with all my might to get it loose. After a few tugs, I got a decent hold open, once again having to really lean into him in order to hold it.
