Irena Volkonova

Personality:

Irena is kind. To those around her, to her friends and people she considers family and to strangers if they show her kindness as well. Irena is carefull though to not be kind to everyone she meets, knowing people will use your kindness against you.

Irena is loyal and a friend for life. For the people she considers her close friends and family she will almost do everything for them, within reason afcourse. Loyalty is important for herself as well. You do not just betray people you have always known or who have done everything for you. Irena once was betrayed by one of her only friends and after this happend she became more closed of then she was before.

Likes:

Irena loves to swim. Ever she was a child she would not stay away from the water to the annoyance from her parents and the people around her. Often Irena would appear with soaked hair and clothes at her home only to do it again the next day. As a child she would dream about seeking out the coast and running over the beach to be met with the water of the sea.

Cake. Irena loves cake more then some other baked goods and she tries her best to get a bit of cake almost every day. Irena even tries to teach herself how to bake good cake in quiet moments. If her parents were still around when she was older Irena would have loved to bake with her mother and share their baked goods with her dad.

Sailing. Irena has always loved boats and ships and the idea of being on open, endless waters has always appealed to her. When she was very young she would act as if she was a captain with her own ship and crew. Till this day though she has only set foot on a slavers ship after being caught by druskelle and sold of to slavers.

Dislikes:

Druskelle. This speaks for itself but since finding out about these people and that they hunt Grisha Irena has disliked them and done her best to avoid them, knowing if she came across these men that her life could very well end then and there.

Fire. It might be because of her Grisha powers, her love for water or the attack on her village that she does not remember well but Irena has a big dislikes towards fire. Because of this she finds it difficult to be around Inferni.

Warm milk, in whatever way Irena does not like warm milk. She will only have it cold or slightly at room temperature but not warm, not even in the evening or during other moments when some people do enjoy it.

Strengths:

Knowlegdeable, loyal, kind, good at running, driven, good with other people, good at getting herself out of trouble.

Weaknesses:

Fire, Druskelle, hand to hand combat, her stubbornness, not being able to take good care of herself.

Habits:

Not taking her rest whenever she is researching, learning about her powers or doing time consuming projects. This often causes Irena to be tired the next day or sleep weirdly for a couple of days because she messed with her sleeping schedule.

Playing with her fingers behind her back whenever she is scared or nervous about something. Sometimes Irena will fiddle with something instead of the previous mentioned, as long as she is keeping her hands busy.

Ranting on and on about the things she loves or a project that she is very passionate about. Irena won't do this unless she trusts you and knows that she won't be made fun off or berated for talking about only one thing so much.

Positive traits:

Kind to the people around her, A loyal friend, open minded, creative, good with baking, driven, curious about so many things, helpful in a lot of situations, motivated.

Negative traits:

Easily scared or worried, fiddles a lot with her hands/small trinkets when scared or nervous, doesn't watch how little or much she sleeps, doesn't always take the best care of herself, not good at hand to hand combat.

Fears:

Being captured by Druskelle, loosing her friends and family, loosing her Grisha powers, ending up alone.

Family:

Irena has a a mother and father, both deceased after an attack on their village. While Irena remembers a lot about what her parents thaught her and the things they used to do together she does not remember their names anymore or if they knew about her being a Grisha.

Life:

-Irena grew up in a quiet village on the outskirts of Ravka. She enjoyed a calm childhood with her parents and did a lot of things outside with her friends from the village.

-When Irena was around fifteen years old the village was attacked. She had learned about her Grisha powers the summer before but did not know enough yet to fight back. If Irena were to think back to the attack she would say she does not remember much, besides screams, fire and people laying dad on the ground. After this Irena has not a lot of memory about her parents either and it still makes her sad till this day.

-After the attack on her village Irena traveled around on her own, trying to find a home for herself and keeping a low profile as a Grisha as she was not to sure were people were accepting of Grisha.

-After years of traveling around Irena was caught by Druskelle after she made the wrong decision to wander to close to Fjerda. The druskelle later sold her off to slavers after she had been especially difficult, trying to escape the druskelle. 

-Irena ten spend the next couple of weeks on the slavers ship. After it is raided by Sturmhond/Nikolai's crew they take her aboard the volkvolny, recognizing her grisha powers and offering her a place to safely stay.
