The night when The Avalanches swept the Predators in the playoffs, all of the guys went out for the night. All of them admitted that they went a little bit too hard the next day, but none of them really remember what happened that night. But you specifically remember what happened when Nate came home that night.

Nathan carefully walked into your shared home in Denver. Of course, you were at the game, but you didn't feel good, so you opted out of the celebration partying. Nate didn't want to leave you alone when you didn't feel good, but you told him to go have fun and that you were fine. And he took your words to heart.

He slowly crept into each room, poking his head in each to figure out where you were. He frowned as he walked into every room and you were nowhere to be seen. He went into the bedroom, and sat down on the bed, looking like a sad puppy while thinking about where you could be.

His thoughts were answered when he felt a small kick on the back. His grin widened when he saw your arm sticking out from under the covers. He now heard your soft snores too. He grinned mischievously as he crawled up to the top of the bed towards your head.

He lifted up the covers, revealing your beautiful face. He lopsidedly smiled at your sleeping state, your mouth slightly open, your hair all in your face, you were perfect.

He rolled around, placing his entire weight on your body. Your eyes flew open when you felt an obscene amount of pressure on you. You picked your head up and sighed in relief when you recognized the familiar hair of your boyfriend. You drop your head down back to your pillow and start playing with his hair.

His head shot up when he felt the familiar feeling of your hands in his hair. "Good morning," He boyishly grins at you.

You stifle a laugh at your boyfriend's words. You glance at your side table clock, "Babe, it's 2 am," You softly tell him.

His face twists up, absolutely bewildered by the fact that it was 2 am. "What?" He breaths out.

You giggle at his facial expression, "Yeah, it's 2 am. You've had a late night," You say stroking his cheek. "Also you smell like alcohol," You whisper.

He wraps his arms around your body, impossibly tight, and buries his face in your chest. "Don't make me get up," He whines.

You sigh and kiss the top of his head, "Nate, you need to change at least."

Suddenly, he peers up at you with a giant smirk plastered on his face. "If you wanted me naked, you could've just asked," He said cheekily.

You chuckle and roll your eyes at his forwardness. "I want you to change, Nathan."

His eyebrows shoot up at the use of his full name. He knew you meant businesses when you used his full name, and you were looking at him with pointed eyes, so he knew you weren't joking around. He dramatically groaned before rolling off of you and standing up with a little bit of dizziness.

"If you fall over I'm going to leave you on the ground," You say, glancing over at where Nathan was currently swaying in his spot.

He pouted, "You're my girlfriend. You're supposed to love me," He sniffled.

You walked out of your shared closet carrying his favorite sleeping shorts, knowing that he never sleeps with a shirt on. You peck him on the cheek, "I do love you, just not enough to peel you off the ground." You hand him his shorts. "Now get changed," You say walking out of your room, going to get him water and food to potentially help his hangover tomorrow.

"You could help me," He yelled out at your retreating figure.

You ignore him, shaking your head with a smile.

"I'm just asking!" He defended him. "It's called curiosity, babe."

You groan, rubbing your hands down your face. "Nate, I don't know who taught the first teacher," You glance at the clock. "It's 4 am and you've been talking like this for two hours."

"I'm trying to educate myself on topics," He shrugs, occasionally popping a strawberry in his mouth.

After Nate got changed you two laid back down in bed, you were hoping to go back to sleep, but Nate had other plans. It all started with the simple sentence of, "Do we actually know the real time?"

That simple sentence started an hour-long debate about whether people know the exact time. You told him that you could tell the time by the sun's position. He scoffed immediately, not believing that would give the most accurate tell of time. "The sun doesn't give an exact time. How can you look at the sun and just say 'Oh it's 6:27 pm' that doesn't make sense."

An hour and a half later, here you were discussing how the first teacher was taught. You had the argument that the first teacher probably taught themselves, but Nate would not accept that the first teacher didn't get taught.

"Somebody had to of taught the first teacher, so who was it?" He exclaimed.

You dramatically hide into his arm, hoping his biceps would cover your ears so you didn't have to hear him anymore. "Nathan," You whine.

He frowns at your agitated state, "What's wrong?" He asks you, pulling you out of his arms to look at you, face to face.

You sigh looking into his concerned eyes that make you melt every time. "Nothing."

He raised his eyebrow, not buying your words.

"I'm just tired and I don't know the answers to your questions, so it's getting a little annoying," You admit, playing with his hair.

"Oh," He says as he was completely oblivious to your annoyed state. "Okay, let's just go to sleep then," He shrugs and then smiles at you.

You huff at yourself, if you had done that an hour and a half ago you would be happily sleeping right now.

You two get in your usual sleeping positions-him wrapping his arms around you, and you placing your head on his warm chest. You smile happily as the familiar feeling of Nathan's comfort and protection surrounds you.

"I love you, Y/N," Nathan whispers, kissing your head.

You snuggle closer to him, "I love you, Nate, even if you don't let me sleep sometimes."

Nathan softly chuckles at that before drifting off.

And it was your usual night of bear hugs and late-night discussions in the Mackinnon household.
