"I made it awkward"
Awkward; SZA

" D, have you finished the chemistry homework?"

Davina snapped out of her thoughts as Jenny's question. Jenny was a pale skinned girl with Asian descent, when she was five, she moved to America from Korea.

Davina nodded, " yea, I'll send it to you later." Jenny smiled and took out her own lunch. Another friend of hers, Kayla, let out an energetic squeak as her eyes widened while looking at Davina.

" Have you lost weight? Girl, you look good." Kayla was a mixed girl who was both black and white, her mother was American while her father was Carribean, specifically Jamaican. The other two friends were Jaden and Frankie, Jaden was a white guy from South Dakota and Frankie was a hispanic guy from Mexico.

Davina internally sighs but gives her friend a smile. " Have I?" Davina asked, putting on a fake surprised tone. Kayla nodded and Davina thanked her for the empty compliment.

Davina hadn't lost weight at all, she checked yesterday and even if she did, it wouldn't have been out of good intentions. Kayla knew this, they all did. Davina has a lot of body issues and she has had them since she was a child.

Though she exuded confidence to others, she really didn't feel confident nor did she feel beautiful. The outfits she wore made her feel comfortable but she always doubted if she looked good in them or if she should even walk out of the house in them. Davina always tries her best to fight her mental illness but by the day it became harder.

" Oh my fucking god." Davina looked up to see Kayla staring at the car pick up. Davina followed her line of sight and when she did, her eyes widened. There sat three cop cars, two of them had their lights on but the middle one didn't. The siren went off on one but quickly stopped.

" What the hell?" Frankie mumbled. Everyone in the courtyard watched as a police officer came out of the middle car and walked around the right backseat door. He opened it and stepped aside. As if everything happened in slow motion, the person in the car stepped out and stood tall. Davina's mouth almost dropped but she composed herself.

The person who got out of the police car was a tall, lightly tanned, medium length, curly dark haired guy. He wore a short white t-shirt with sweatpants and off brand slides. Since he was wearing a short sleeve top, you could see multiple tattoos coating his arms.

" Who is that?" Davina asked, all of her friends turned to her in shock. " What?" " That's Cain Mallory." Jenny said, the name made Davina gasp, " that's him?!" She whispered. They all nodded and she looked back at him as he talked to the cop.

Why did he have to be hot?

The story of Cain Mallory shook fear into everyone. Cain was the son of a famous retired model and a billionaire, and we say retired because his mom is dead.

He killed her.

When Cain was 12, he took his father's gun and shot his mom three times. His whole trial was on TV and he was found guilty but also insane. Cain confessed to actually wanting his mother dead but also that at the time he was hearing voices.

Turns out, Cain Mallory was insane and diagnosed with Psychosis, with this information they locked him up in a mental hospital until he was 16 and then after he was stable enough, put him in juvenile detention. Now he's here and this was news to everyone.

Davina finished her food and put the jar in her bag. She got up from the table and threw the plastic spoon away. " I'm gonna get to class early, see you guys later." Davina walked away from the table and made her way to her next class, Art.

Moments later, class had started and Davina sat at her assigned easel. She was finishing a pencil sketch she started yesterday on her canvas. " Every please turn your attention to the front." The teacher announced.

Davina took out her earbuds and looked up to see the principal, the vice principal and then him. Cain. " As some of you have seen, we have a new student, now our new student needs someone to show him around the school, any takers?" The principal asked.

No one raised their hands, no one said a peep. Davina then slowly started putting her headphones back in her ears, but she made eye contact with her teacher who then started to speak.

" Ms. Lawrence would love to." Davina's eyes shut and she sighs defeatedly. She puts her earbuds in her bag and grabs it to put over her shoulder. She walked to the front and walked out of the room with the principals and him.

" Thank you so much and I hope you grow a liking here Cain." The vice principal said and left with her colleague. Davina looked at Cain and held out her hand. " I'm Davina." Cain glanced at her hand but ignored it and looked away.

Rude, amazing first impression

Davina internally rolled her eyes and walked ahead and started the tour. As she did, she got a better look at him now that he was in close proximity. He had dark gray eyes and a few marks on his face that seemed to be scars, there was one prominent one that ran across the bridge of his nose.

" That's the music room and across is the ceramics room, we go there to kiln everything, we start messing with clay in about two weeks." She explained, she glanced at Cain who hadn't said a word, not even a hum or grunt came from him.

" Can I see your schedule? So I can show you your classes." She asked, Cain stopped walking and dug through his pants pocket, she stood in front of him waiting for the paper he should've gotten from one of the principals.

Cain pulled out a light blue, folded piece of paper in the shape of a square and handed it to Davina. She took it and unfolded the paper and looked at the 4 classes he was assigned to. As she read, a scoff came out of her throat.

" We have the same classes..."
