"C'mon, you've been dying to test out the new trick arrows," he said, and it was the most excited I'd ever seen Clint. "Have a go!"

Trick arrows. Those were the weird ones that did stuff, right?

"Yeah, duh!" I played along, smiling widely but questioning everything at this moment.

Carefully picking up an arrow, I studied it, having absolutely no idea what it was or what it did.

"Good choice, come on," he said, before ushering me to a mannequin lined up in the distance. "Give her a go. You know which this is, right?"

"Uh-huh."

I lined up the arrow in my bow and aimed it steadily ahead at the centre mannequin, stood between several more. Using a bow and arrow wasn't new to me since I'd worked with many different kinds of weapons as a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, but I was nowhere as near as good as Kate or Clint, and I hadn't used a bow and arrow in quite a while.

Holding my breath, I let the arrow fly from my fingers and watched it hit the mannequin in the chest. An electric current began to electrocute the mannequin and I sighed with relief, lowering my bow. It was just the taser arrow.

"Wait for it...," Clint said, raising his hand patiently.

Suddenly, the electrical current jumped from the mannequin  I shot to all the surrounding ones in an instant, making me jump out of my skin at how quickly it happened.

"Fuck," I let out accidentally, before straightening up when I realised Clint was looking right at me. "I mean, that is amazing. Sick!"

That's something lame Kate would say, right?

"Go on, try some of the others out," he encouraged, motioning to the other arrows. "I threw some cool ones in there. Like the acid arrows."

Acid arrows?! Okay, I was kind of seeing why Kate fangirled so hard about Clint.

Unfortunately for me, shortly after testing out some cool trick arrows, the actual archery practice began and I definitely couldn't keep up with the moving targets and swanky moves Clint assumed I could replicate. I fell over several times and missed several targets, and it eventually got to a point where he figured I was having a bad day and ended training early.

I didn't bother arguing otherwise and accepted the early finish, immediately making a beeline to go and find Kate so we could talk about how I would get out of archery training for the month. She was sparring in the gym with Sam when I found her, and doing a damn good job at pretending to be me.

Deciding I'd leave her to it and talk to her later, I let my eyes roam the gym and saw some S.H.I.E.L.D. recruits working out, a few others like Bucky, Nat and Steve training, and then Wanda who was making every effort to stay on the opposite side of the room from me. I rolled my eyes at the childishness. And she said I was the immature one...

A few nights later, I was watching TV in the communal area by myself and enjoying some leisure time. So far, being Kate hadn't caused me any problems and Kate told me it was the same on her end, so I was starting to believe that we could hold out until Doctor Strange returned from his mission. I should've known that wouldn't last long.

Whilst watching TV, the door opened and I realised it was Wanda walking in, eyes looking around until they settled on me.

"Oh, good, someone's here," she said casually, and I straightened up when I realised she was approaching me. "I need your opinion. How do I look?"

Trying to remain calm, I took in her appearance quickly. "Erm, what's it for?"

She hesitated, hands pressing down her dress. "I have a date." I raised my eyebrows with surprise, trying to dial down my shock, but she noticed and smiled nervously. "I know." When my expression didn't change, she frowned. "This is strange, isn't it?"
