Chapter 16: the match maker

Start from the beginning

"I'm not..okay maybe but she's a beautiful woman, you can't blame me", she countered back.

I let it slip away so it wouldn't lead it to overthinking, it was already difficult enough to know if someone was flirting or just being nice and giving compliments.
In these cases mind reading would be really handy.
Anyways I secured the box on the passengers seat and buckled it in.
Starting the engine of the car I began to drive and the sight of the house disappeared slowly of the rearview mirror.

It was already 6 p.m. when I arrived in the tower and made my directly to the billionaire who was in the lab working on his other suit just only to see some new parts of the armor falling to the ground.

"Hey Tony", I greeted him and gave him a pat on his shoulder.
"Come on get up you need to go to an important meeting", grabbing his hand to lead him out causing him to scrunch his eyebrows in confusion.

"But why and shouldn't you be on your way to the date?"

"Exactly but I'm not the one who is going to this date with Miss Potts", I smirked.
"You are going to this date", pointing at him.

His jaw fell open widely.
"No forget it", he tried to yank his arm away.

"Tony I know you're my boss but I need you to shup up for one second", I gestured him to be quite.

"You have a crush on her right?"

The billionaire nodded his head shyly.

"Good because me asking her out was the only way to get with this plan alright", I emphasized every word I said.

"So you go take a shower because you stink and I'm going to wait for you in the common room to give you my neutral opinion to whatever you decided to wear", explained him quickly and giving him a thumb up.
"Now go", pushing him out of the lab.

"Sam, Carol and Bucky canceled because of a last minute mission they need attend to and Bruce can't come either because of some lab stuff he needs to do and the twins are out for Christmas shopping because they wanted to buy something for you, Peter isn't here and the rest can't", Steve explained and his face fell.

Steve planned a little evening dinner to spend some time together and
Poor Steve.
Then an idea crossed my mind.

"What about Natasha?", I asked him.
He shook his head.
"I tried but she doesn't want to, maybe you can talk with her?", he suggested.

"I'll see what I can do", gave him a smile and began to search for Natasha.

--- Natasha's Pov ---

I was sitting on these reports since hours and the extra task I got from Peter of his math homework asking me to help him, I couldn't decline so I willed to it.
I'm still stuck on the same number and I had to no idea how to solve this.
My thoughts got disrupted when I saw her sitting on a chair across of me.

"Hey", she said and put a box on the table.
Before I could greet her she already began to speak.
"Okay so I'm getting straight to the point why don't want to come to dinner?", she asked me directly.

"Don't you have to be somewhere else?", I cocked my eyebrows.
"I asked first", she countered back.

I rolled my eyes.
"Because I'm busy with these stuff here", I told her.

"Don't tell me you're still stuck with the same task of math?", she asked.

I knew she was right but honestly I couldn't give her the feeling of triumph with her being always right.
Pretty sure she enjoyed being right.
