~2 weeks later~

Everything was almost back to normal... Almost. I'd become friends with a girl who had some of the same classes with me, and we'd decided, since we both hate our tiny dorms, that we could rent a place close to campus and each pay half the rent. It was a pretty great deal, the rent wasnt even that much, and the place itself looked great...

But,

Joey and Rosenthal were our neighbors.

Now, had Joey and I not kissed two weeks ago, this wouldnt be a problem. But ever since Joey's been trying his hardest to avoid me. I dont know if its that he doesnt care to talk to me anymore, or if it was just being around me, but I knew it couldnt go on forever. Could it?

"Hey, June? Could you pick up some groceries while you're gone? I forgot to go out and get them yesterday." The girl who I was rooming with, Aubree, asked me. "Yeah, sure." I said, not really paying attention to what she was saying because I was busy scrolling down tumblr. She nodded and went back to whatever she was doing, leaving me to tumble to my hearts content.

Before I knew it, I was rushing around the house, my messenger bag flailing around behind me, the messy bun my hair was in coming loose. I ran out the front door, the screen door slamming behind me. "SHIT!" I shouted, realizing I'd left my car at the school when Aubree refused to let me drive myself home. She was gone now, and I didnt have a ride. I sighed and took off down the sidewalk, keeping up a steady jog until I could feel my heart beating in my throat. I forced myself to stop, sitting down on the sidewalk and panting in attempts to catch my breath. Not long after I sat down did I hear a car pull up in front of me. I didnt bother to look up, figuring they'd pass eventually. "Need a ride?" A firmilliar voice asked, and I looked up to see no other than Joey, sitting in his car staring at me. "Please." I said, jumping up and walking over to the passenger's side.

"Brian didnt wake me up, so I was running late." Joey said, clearly trying to make conversation. "How about you?" He asked me. "My roommate refused to let me drive myself home, so I had to leave my car at school while she went god knows where." I groaned, looking out the window. Joey laughed. "Lucky Im here, right?" He asked. "Very." I said,  chuckling slightly.

Joey and I sat in silence for the rest of the drive, him with his eyes glued to the road, and me looking up at the sky dreamily. Once he'd parked, I reached for the door handle. "June?" He asked, looking over at me. "Yes?" I asked. "That day.... When we kissed... I felt like I was coming off a little strong. Im sorry." He said. "Dont be. Its fine, really." I said, giving him a smile. Joey nodded and stayed where he was. "You gonna come in?" I asked. "Yeah. Tell them I'll be in in a second." He said. I nodded and got out of his car and made my way to the back door of the blackbox.

"You're late." Nick said, not even bothering to turn around. "Couldnt get a ride." I said, walking up next to him. "Then how'd you get here?" He asked. "I got a ride." I said, and he smiled. Lauren scampered up to Nick, her Slytherin tie around her neck. I assumed it helped her stay in character. "Have you seen Joey?" She asked in her British accent. "We need to run through Granger Danger." She added. "Yeah, he's out in the car. He'll be in in a few." I said. Lauren nodded and ran back over to where she'd been standing. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around. "Best friend!" I said, smiling. "Best friend!" Darren shouted back, pulling me into a hug and lifting me off the ground. "Darren. Cant. Breathe." I said. Darren laughed. "Sorry, best friend. Im just happy." He said, grinning. "I can tell." I replied. "Want me to tell you why?" He asked. "Im surprised you havent already." I laughed. "Alright, c'mere." He said, taking me by the wrist. I bit my lower lip to keep myself from yelping at the pain forming where my cuts were.

He dragged me to the corner of the room. "... So, there's a girl--" Darren started. "THERE'S A GIRL?! HALLELUJAH, THERE'S A GIRL!" I said. "Shhh! You're making a scene." Darren laughed. "I met this girl the other night at that little bar down the street from Joey's. We started talking, and she's really nice and funny..." He said, looking off into space. "EARTH TO HARRY POTTER!" I snapped, laughing. "Whats her name, crazy!" I asked. "Her name is Aubree..." He said. "WAIT." I said. "Wait what?" He asked. "Wait, wait, wait, wait. Aubree as in MY Aubree? Aubree my roommate?!" I asked. "Wait, you're Aubree's roommate? She told me about you at the bar! She said you've got a thing for Richter?" Darren said, smirking. "SHHH!" I shushed him, covering his mouth with my hand. "YOU CANT TELL ANYONE!! DO YOU HEAR ME?!" I whisper-shouted at him. He looked around, realizing he couldnt answer until I took my hand off his mouth, something I didnt realize. He licked my hand. "EW!" I laughed. "I wont tell Joey, I promise--" Darren started. "Good." I cut him off. "-- Because I think he already knows." He smiled, pointing right past my head.
