I wasn't too familiar with the route I needed to take in order to get to the diner, but I managed to find my way. I pulled up into the parking lot, and was nearly blinded  with the bright blue building. "Hm. Looks like they renovated the place." I thought to myself. I got out of the car and gently closed the door behind me. As I waked inside, a small ding could be heard from a bell overhead. I was greeted by a young woman with strawberry blonde hair and a red and white uniform. "A table for how many?" Her voice was cheery and reminded me of what I imagined cherries and peaches sounded like. "Two, please." She walked me over to a small booth in the corner, and I made myself comfortable as I waited for Mark to arrive. Before I knew it, the bell rang again, and in walked the striking man. He made his way over to me, and let out a warm sigh before taking a seat. "So, whatcha gonna order?" Mark smiled at me as he spoke, his eyes never leaving mine. I had a hard time with maintaining eye contact normally, but with him it felt natural. "I haven't really decided yet, honestly." I was much more quiet with my words than he was, but I was starting to loosen up and feel more comfortable. "Maybe I'll get a burger... what about you?" He looked down at his menu and back up at me. "I was thinking the same thing." When the waitress came to our booth to take our order, Mark took the initiative to order for both of us. "We'll both take a coffee, a burger, and a basket of fries." He took my menu in his hand and handed both of them back to the waitress. "It'll be out in no time!" She walked off to the back, her ponytail swaying as she stepped. Our coffees came first, and as we waited for our food, we talked about nothing too important. For a moment, I had almost forgotten the life I had back at home. Mark made me feel so real. It felt like he saw me for the person I really was, even if we had just met a few hours prior. Before we knew it, our food had arrived, and we began to eat. We shared the fries between the both of us, and Mark seemed to enjoy himself. "So, what did you think?" I looked up from my plate and nodded eagerly. "Great to hear!" He crumpled up his napkin and placed it on his plate before leaning back in the booth. "Hey, so, I know we just met but..." I perked up my head and saw an anxious look on his face. Was something wrong? Did I screw up without even knowing? I know I have a tendency to ruin nice things, but did I do it already? This early on? God what was wrong with me. Why can't I do anything-
"I want you to be the captain of my spaceship, Y/N. I know it sounds bizarre but...I am the top engineer on my... w-well... our ship, The Invincible. Just after knowing you for a while, I can see the potential in you. Please, join me." He held out his hand for me to grasp, but I sat in shock. Was he being serious right now? He wants me to go to space? "I-I really don't know...Would I stay there... forever?" My voice was beginning to shake a bit, but I didn't want to appear frightened. "Essentially, yes. However, there are plenty of others aboard to meet, and everything will be provided for. We have food to feed millions, and rooms for everyone! You'll feel at home in no time." I took in everything and pondered for a bit. Am I willing to throw away everything I know here on Earth? It isn't like my life is all that to begin with. Everyday I feel like I'm hanging on by a mere thread, and Mark... he made me feel so vibrant. I placed my hand in his and shook my head. "I would love to accompany you as the captain of The Invincible."
