determined, hephaestus convinces zeus and hera to allow him to marry aphrodite. appalled, aphrodite lashed out, 'i refuse to marry you! someone as hideous as you with a god as beautiful as me? are you crazy?' enraged, hephaestus sternly replies, 'aphrodite, you will be mine, even if i must force you against your own will.' though aphrodite argued, zeus and hera reluctantly allowed the force marriage. soon the breathtaking god of beauty and love, was married to the horrible god of fire. aphrodite would have none of this. marriage or not, they were going to be happy. 'you horrible man.. i shall never bear any children for such a disgusting man as yourself!' tears poured down their freckled skin. hephaestus, with no guilt, assumed that his new lover would get over it. they would be together, even if aphrodite didn't want it.
