The Dandelion and the North Wind

A dainty dandelion
fell in love with the North Wind
She believed he could make her fly
She'd envy how other flowers bent beautifully
in the afternoons when he'd pass by

"Be careful what you wish for"
Said the sunflower one afternoon
"Why do you say that?"
the dandelion answered,
a little bit confused
"You deserve a love that's gentle,
like the silver rays of the moon."

But the dandelion was determined
She waited and waited each day
No other wind was strong enough
for her to want to be carried away,
she prayed for nothing else but the North Wind
and the sunflower shook her head in dismay

At last came the day
when the mighty wind caught sight
of the dainty dandelion
twas a spring day when he passed by
"Do you trust me?" He asked the little flower
"I do. With all that I am."
And so they went together
And they did fly towards the sun

Behold the dandelion,
looked at herself and she cried
"I'm a wrecked flower,
I'm losing all my parts"
The North Wind held her up
tried his best to be gentle
"I thought you said you trust me,
without a single doubt
Alas you might have changed
but you're not wrecked like you thought
look at what our love created
notice those tiny petals on the ground
Instead of being a single flower
you created a meadow in this corner of the world."

And so that was how their love continued
It started with a dainty dandelion
Now there are millions
Perhaps the two of them go beyond the understanding
of the sunflower who thought
love is limited by
The gentleness or greatness of the love
we choose to keep in our lives
It didn't mean that the dandelion was too fragile
because the North Wind appeared to be too tough
Their love was a little bit of everything
and somehow it was enough
