Chapter 4: Saving Sudou

Start from the beginning

"Aha! I knew you would pull through for me, Horikita!" Sudou stood up, a big smile on his face.

To this, Horikita said and did nothing but make a noise of acknowledgement/agreement.

"We don't know what penalty might enacted on a class that loses students to expulsion. I've determined there may be considerable merit in keeping him around."

"Smart choice. Sudou, especially, would indubitably become an important asset, with his physique and all." commented Katsuragi earning nods of agreement from most students.

"Ha, and to think Suzune was convinced it was better for that blockhead to drop out. How disappointing," said Ryuen.

Not liking his statement in the slightest, Sudou tried to speak up...

"Wh--"

...but he was beaten to the punch by Horikita.

"When did I give you permission to call me that?" she said with a fierce look and tone.

"Woah, scary," said Ryuen sarcastically, before standing up.

"Don't forget, Suzune, just because Ayanokouji sprung up out of nowhere, doesn't mean I'm letting you go scot-free for setting up my guys,"  he continued, his earlier sarcasm now replaced by a harsh and intimidating tone.

Hearing this, the three guys Ryuen was referring to flinched.

"Oh? And whatever do you mean by that?" Horikita, however, did not yield in the slightest.

Ryuen refrained from saying anything more, instead sitting back down while going, "Kukuku..."

"Horikita..."

"I knew you people would be interesting. Very well, I'll sell you a point for Sudou's test. You can let him know about this yourselves."

"You sure about this?" asked Ayanokouji.

"I agreed to sell it for 100,000 points. I don't have choice," said the teacher, as she lit another cigarette.

"In the history of this school, no Class D has ever advanced to a higher tier. Do you still intend to struggle for it?" she asked.

"That's... it'll definitely be hard, but I think we can do it, right everyone?" Hirata stood up and looked at his classmates, soon enough, his determination seemed to give everyone hope as well.

"Hell yeah we can!" exclaimed Ike, immediately after, the rest of the class followed with the cheering as well.

Seeing this, Ryuen intervened.

"Hey, hey, you underestimating us or what? Are you fucking with me?" he said, with a face and tone intimidating enough to immediately shut down a few of the Class D students.

"Kukuku, how pathetic."

"I don't know how he feels, but I will ascend to a higher class," said Horikita, with absolute confidence in her tone of voice.

"And how do defectives like you, abandoned by the school, expect to aim for the top?"

"If I may be so bold, defective merchandise can often be fixed with the slightest of alterations. That is my feeling on the matter."

"Horikita-san..." Class D looked to the mentioned girl in mixture of awe and bewilderment.

After all, although she didn't explicitly say it, she basically said that she believed that Class D still had the potential to be strong and rise from their position, a statement very much uncharacteristic from her.
