Gary Tompkins was the head pastor and father to Gus. He was deeply forgiving, loving, compassionate and wise. He deeply love his grandchildren and his son and has forgiven him for his sins. He had brain cancer but kept it a secret from his grandchildren cause they already lost there father. He died but not before giving his church to Johnson, unaware of his cruel ways
