Deer Thomas (Chapter 13)

"The first two weeks of school are done and nothing has happened yet, that's a record," Beth says to us. Beth, Lucas, Samuel, and I just got done practicing some Abjuration spells. Simple things like how to block someone shooting a spell at you. Samuel and Lucas struggle a bit more than Beth and I but that's okay just some practice and there will be better. " I know what this calls for," I say to everyone. "Beer" "Food" and "Party," all three of them say at the same time. I can't tell who said what. I wasn't expecting that. "Umm sure," I say to them all.  Everyone laughs as we head upstairs to my room. My new roommate is super nice. He is rarely in the room though. I think the apparitions have some type of hour hang-out event since they don't sleep.

"We should drop our belongs off first then ask the group what we want to do," Beth says to us. "Agreed," Samuel says to her. He gives her a quick wink after he says that. I want to roll my eyes but I know as a good friend I shouldn't. " How are you doing?" Lucas asks me as he puts his hand around my shoulder blade. I know he is referring to my breakup. I finally told the group and of course, everyone made me feel so much better. "I'm better," I say to him he smiles at me. I am better now but still hurt me. We walk down the hallway to mine and Lucas & Samuels's room when I catch a weird smell. What is that smell? "Thomas? Everything okay" Samuel ask me. I look to see everyone in front of me looking at me. I notice that I have stopped in the middle of the hallway. "Oh yeah... Of course" I say to them as I walked past them to my room. We make it to my room and I started to unlock it. When the smell is stronger. It's coming from my room. I don't think it's coming from my roommate. I pushed the door open to immediately notice where the odor is coming from. "Ahhh" Beth screams behind me. I walk into the room shocked. I turn around to see Samuel holding Beth. Lucas walks into my room with me. "Is that a deer's head" Lucas to me as he points at the dead animal's head on my bed. There are two holes in the neck of the deer. My bed sheets are provided with a large dose of blood. My carpet is also covered in blood from the bed dripping blood. "Yeah, it is," I say to him. "Who the hell would do something like that" Samuel shouts at us from outside my room. With the two holes in the neck of the deer, my mind goes to Blade. He's the only person besides Dylan but Dylan is not brave enough to do something of the sort. I turn around to respond to him and notice a coward of students starting to make their way to my dorm room door. "I'm calling my aunt," I tell them. I pull out my phone and start to dial her. " So much for a normal two weeks," Lucas tells me. He sure was right. I guess Beth jinxes us. Who could do such a thing?

"Why is it always something with y'all" My aunt demands from us. My aunt and other teachers quickly got the situation under control. Making the students leave and vacate the dorm. My aunt borough us into her office to question us but of course, we all know nothing. After our interviews, we heard a knock, and Jessica, Ned, Laim,  Charlotte, and Mark walked in. " honestly headmaster I've been asking myself that question since lasted year after seeing Thomas almost be shish kebab by a piece of metal," Ned says in a deadpan voice. Ned is referring to the Battle whenever someone set the platform to fall and kill me. The Magic Council never found who did this. That scares the crap out of me to think about. "Facts" Charlotte adds on. "Okay everyone I need all of you to listen!" my aunt says in a firm voice, to everyone. "Whatever happen today I need y'all not to look into this or anything of the sort. We don't need some type of repeat of lasted year," she says as she takes a long pause to give me a bombastic side-eye. I mean I can't blame her. "You need to let us hand it... so if you have any information this is the time to give it to us." Everyone sits in silence thinking. I mean the dreams I've been having have been weird, but no way they're connected to a headless deer. Then my mind goes to Blade and he has been treating me. Maybe I should just mention it. "Ummm... Blade Lazarus has been very standoffish. He's been nothing but a jerk to me since day one. Also! There were two bite marks on the neck of the deer as if something had bit into it." I say. Everyone looks at me. Jessica and Ned seem a little surprised that I brought it up. But I know my aunt just wants to catch this person so if this is some type of lead I think she should take her wins where she can find them. "Ummm. Interesting. His brother got into a fight today with a certain someone's brother." My aunt says to us. I know she is referring to Brain and Drake. She doesn't know that Jonah and I broke up. What happen between Brain and Drake? I'll ask her later. "Oh, we saw that" Charlotte points at herself and Liam "Oh yeah," Liam responds. "It was Messing, Brain kicked Drakes..." Charlotte adds on. "Ms. Schmidt if you don't want to get in trouble, I would stop right there." my aunt says firmly to her with her hand up to stop her from speaking. Even though my aunt is nice at home, while she's at school she is a monster. Charlotte immediately shuts her mouth to stop what she was going to say. " Yes Ma'am we won't look into it," I say to my aunt. Everyone quickly turns around and looks at me. Jessica, Mark, and Beth seem shocked while Ned, Liam, and Charlotte look relief. Everyone else was just neutral. On the other hand, my aunt's face made it obvious that she was shocked. " Thomas?" Jessica goes on to say before she can speak I decide to speak. "It's not worth it, lasted year I was almost murdered. As much as I would love to see justice served we have to let my aunt handle it." I explain to everyone. Jessica only says okay to me before turning away. I can tell she is not happy with what I said. I know how she is, she loves a good mystery. "Well, in that case, you all have a better day. If you see anything let us know immediately." my aunt tells the whole group. I think about the dreams filled with blood but I honestly don't think anything of it. My dream is probably my mind repressing trauma from last year. I almost died lasted year so this could be my mind finally coping with it. I guess I really didn't deal with what happened to me last year since I was dealing with the kidnapper and then my relationship with Jonah. My mind might have been too busy to actually deal with what happened to me. That would explain why I'm seeing my hands covered in blood. Just like how my hands were last year during The Battle when I was stabbed. "Thomas? You coming?" Mark ask me. I look up to see everyone leave the room. The only people left are us and my aunt who is glancing at me. "Oh...yeah, my bad," I say as I get up and leave as well. I must have zoned out. I grab my things and leave. I look around to see everyone but Ned has left. Ned is just standing and doing nothing. "Wait where did everyone go?" I ask Ned. "Oh yeah... well... everyone had mixed feeling about what you said... so everyone left and kept to themselves." why would they do that. I'm just trying to do what's best. That makes no sense. "What?"Mark says. "Oh I'm sorry that I don't want to die again," I say to them both very much annoyed. I just don't want to get hurt again and why can't my friends just see that? "Hey Thomas don't shoot the messager
boy," Ned says with his hands up. "Sorry, it's just so foolish," I say to them both. I'm not trying to take my anger out on them.

"Hey, I've got to meet up with a study group for a Merman thing. Are you going to be okay" Mark asks me as he puts his hand on my shoulder. I shake my head yes. "It's fine ill take him back to his room...that is hopefully clean or I might pass out. I've seen a dead animal once and I hope I never have to see one again." Ned says to us. We say but to Mark and head back to the dorm room. We kinda just walk in silence all the way back to the dorm before one of us speaks up.  "So how are you going to get back at Blade for what he did?" He asks me. He agrees that it was probably Blade who did this to me. I mean it could be Dylan but I highly doubt it's him because this seems a little mess for his doing. It had to have been done by someone who had no remorse. Also, getting revenge? I wasn't even thinking about that because it seem like a lot. "Revenge? We're not even positive it was him." he gives me really eyes when I tell him this. I mean his eyes tell me how he feels about this! "Yes, we are! There is no way it's not Blade. You should do something to get payback!" I stop where we're going. This seems all very unlike Ned to be saying. He seems so mad about this. I have never seen him this furious before. " Is everything okay Ned? You seem very agitated over this. Even though this had nothing to do with you." I tell him. I see looks of anger turn to calmness. "It's just..." He takes a very uncomfortable about of time to say anything. I almost speak up but he beats me to it. "It's just I'm tired of my friend being pushed around by so many people. I think... I think you should show everyone you mean business." He tells me. He looks so concerned for me. I can see where he's coming from. I mean with people like Dylan and Blade there is nonstop harassment happening to me. "Ned I understand you hate seeing me be hurt, but acting with violence is not the way to go," I say to him just giving me a half nod before turning away and heading up the stairs. He didn't even say bye. He must be truly upset. As much as I would love to see Blade be put in his place it's different not with brutality. But he is right that I let people walk over me maybe I stick up for myself a little more.

I'm about to head upstairs when I look outside the dorm. I see what seems to be a student at the edge of the forest. From what I can see of the person there are greyish like an apparition. So it must be a student. I notice that it's a boy. Before I can do anything else is walk back into the Forrest. Whoa, creepy. I have no clue what that's about. That's very odd. I decide to head back upstairs. I should probably call Jessica to make sure she is okay. I know she is a little frustrated at me, but can she really blame me for wanting to be safe? Out of everyone, I thought she would want to be the safest.
