You know how each character has stuff on there clothes showing their gifts and purpose. E.g mirabel Has butterflies, Dolores has sound waves.
Mariano has diamonds on his shirts and diamonds represent strength love and health which is all abuela wants for the family at that time, linking to the theory that the gifts link to what she needs at the time. Then at the end of the movie the diamonds arnt there's showing how that wasn't needed anymore and when he's with Dolores it's for him not abuela
