They have a daughter named Marisol, whose gift is empathy and telepathy. Five years later, they had Mirabel. After the failed ceremony and Bruno's venture into the walls, Abuela decided Mirabel would be better off if she were seen as Julieta's daughter, because that way, no one would see her lack of gift as a curse (the way they'd do if she was acknowledged as Bruno's daughter).
