Abigail's body was limp. She wasn't breathing. She had no pulse. I killed her. I had just killed my best friend. She laid lifeless in my arms. I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. I didn't cry for her, I cried for myself. I had to kill my beloved friend to survive. This was life now. Her blood was dripping on to the dead earth. I had to leave the Infecties would be coming soon. "Bye Abigail."
I rushed out of the ally. The beasts weren't coming for the ally. They were to heading towards my house. I hope my family would stay safe. If one of the Infecties bit any of my family, they too would become mindless beasts. I should warn them, but they're all, unconscious. Oh. Crap. My family would become beasts. I would never see them again. Well, for now the ally was safe.
I heard crying in the distance. I sounded muffled, like, the person was in a bin. The sound echoed, but the echo wasn't loud. It didn't last long. I walked towards the crying. It was coming from a trash can. Al, I could do was pray it wasn't an Infectie. I could die instantly. But it could also be a person that needs help. I flipped open the bin. I closed my eyes at bit my bottom lip. It was a person, not a mindless, killing Infectie. Her eyes were red and puffy. "Do you need help little girl?" I tried to sound like Abigail, but I wasn't a naturally nice person.
"Y-yes. M-m-my parents were," weep, "I-killed by," weep, "the infection!" That led to a whole chain of sobs. I needed to help her. She had to be my age, probably younger. But if she was out in the world, her mind had to be week from the infection.
"I'm out here alone too. My parents aren't dead, but they will be. We have each other now. Alright?" She slowly nodded her head, a small tear dripped down her cheek. I felt sorry for her.
"Okay. Please help me. I haven't had anything to eat in days. Infecties chased after me, and then they got my parents. I watched them get their limbs torn off their body! With the Infecties teeth! Do you know how it feels to watch your own family members get slaughtered? By someone's teeth!" The memory of Josh replayed in my head. But this wasn't just her twin. It was her whole family.
"I know how you feel. Let's find a safe place to sleep for tonight. Maybe find something to eat. Okay? What's your name?"
"I'm Lucy. I know an abandoned building with no Infecties. We can sleep there for tonight." I helped her out of the trash can. She was covered in blood and dirt. It made me wonder.
"Did the Infecties get you, did they bite you?" If they did. I would have to leave her behind. If she turned, my body would be a pool of blood, she would feast on my flesh and devour my intestines. I had to pray for the right answer.
"No. But I did get cut. Some people thought I was an Infectie and tried to kill me. But when they realized I was normal, they let me free. I think that they thought I would bleed to death. But I lived." My life could now be spared a few more days.
"Let's find that building. After dark the Neig's will catch us and ha e us for dinner. Infecties could find us as well. Let's head out." Off we marched. The sun was about to set. It felt like we had been walking for hours. We finally reached our destination. The building looked awfully familiar. Despite it being abandoned, I realized where I was about to spend the night. I had dreamed of this for so many years, I just never thought I would see it like this. I got to sleep at school.
