Carl's pov;
*******
"you going to the party tomorrow night?" lydia asks, leaning up against the log.
"party?" i reply, looking to her.
"yea. everyones invited." she gives me a small smile. "well, i should get going. i have to help Catherine get an outfit for tomorrow." she kisses my cheek before standing up, and i just look down.
she walks away, leaving me in the forest.
i stand up, starting to walk.
******
i climb up the fence, swinging my leg over the side.
i climb downward, and hop down about a foot from the ground.
i walk swiftly to my house, stepping inside before slamming the door.
of course its empty.
its always fucking empty.
its quiet, and i dont like it.
i run down the hallway, turning the corner at the staircase.
i run up the stairs, my large boots banging against the wooden stairs.
i reach the top, and approach a white door.
i stop for a second, and then reluctantly twist the doorknob, and step inside.
the room was unfurnished, the walls and floor wooden, with no carpet.
i close the door behind me, and look around the room.
there was a sleeping bag and some pillows up against the wall.
i walked closer to it, and bent down and picked up the comic book that was laying beside it.
wolves.
issue number 113.
i dropped the comic book, and turned around to examine the rest of the room.
in the corner of the room was a small record player, or a phonograph, and a small box of vinyl records.
i approached the box, and picked up the first record i saw.
Kodaline
in a perfect world.
i read the words on the album cover, and examined the picture.
it was a dock in the middle of a lake, with three people apon it.
i pulled out the large disk, and placed it atop the turntable.
i turned the record slowly, and lowered the needle arm into one of the larger grooves, and thats when the first song started playing.

One day it's here and then it's gone,
How are you still holding on?
How are you still holding on?

You've felt this way for far too long,
Waiting for a change to come,
You know you're not the only one.

where have i heard this song before?

And life passes you by,
Don't be wasting your time,
On your own.

You always try to see yourself,
Through the eyes of someone else,
Through the eyes of someone else.

joelle.

Too shy to say that you need help,
You and everybody else,
You and everybody else.

Oh, life passes you by,
Don't waste your time.
On your own.

Yeah life passes you by,
Don't be wasting your time,
All alone.

I immediately stop the record, swiftly pulling the needle arm upward.
that was the song Joelle sang to me.
i pick up the record, and put it back into the case.
i need to keep the record.

i need joelle back.
