Chapter 67 : Invitation ♡

Start from the beginning

"When did granny started baking?"

"A few months ago."

~~~~~~
Makoto fell off her chair and pulled herself together after hearing what Aiko told them.
"Christmas at Kai-kun's house?!" Naomi's jaw dropped as well.
But Aiko played it off like it was nothing and everything was just normal, even seeing her friends overreacted to just those words. It was just a daily occurrence.
"Aren't you spending Christmas with Yaku-kun?" She turned to the short brunette. Naomi stared off into the distance then screamed when she finally processed things. "I-I haven't ask him!!!" She screamed and shook the table.
"Good thing I don't celebrate it, then I don't have to be so worked up for it." Makoto cackled and rested her arms on the back of her head still smirking mockingly.
"Speaking of which...boyfriend over yonder." The navy haired moved her to point at the incoming boys.
As they walked through the halls like normal, Kai started to bring up how excited he is to go to nationals. Even remarking how the goal has been planted since they were in their first year. Kuroo and Yaku just cringed at how they acted back then. A lot of stuff had happened to them that they were grateful for; managers, new recruits who're really passionate about what they are doing, Kenma's wits, etc. Kuroo couldn't wait to see what happens in the near future.
"Yakkun, girlfriend over there." Kuroo pointed.
Yaku was confused at what he meant but when he saw Naomi sprinting towards him, he knew something was up.
"W-woah, Naomi, what's wrong?" He asked her as she tried to catch her breath from running the other side of the hallway.
"Morisuke..." She finally caught her breath fully and calmed down. "You're coming to my house for Christmas...right?"
Yaku flinched and slowly turned his head away from her gaze. He was quivering, too. "What?"
"My brothers love you."
"What?"
"We're making roast beef."
"What?"
"Mori-"
"What? What?"
Her face turned sour as she balled up her fists. Yaku just looked away from her and looked pretty pissed off for someone who is easily angered.
"Naomi. Why don't we spend it at my house?" He crossed his arms and didn't bare to look at her as he could see the angry expression on her face. "Because it's our first Christmas together."
"Are they having a fight?" Kuroo asked.
Kai couldn't tell.
"We've done things at yours multiple times!"
"Then why not Christmas?"
"We haven't done anything at mine."
"But..."
"My brothers will like you."
Naomi gritted her teeth before having tears appearing in the corners of her eyes and Kuroo swiftly lifted Yaku off the ground just to shake him out of spite.
Looking back at the commotion, the girls were utterly shocked by Naomi being comforted by Kai and the other two getting into an argument.
"You okay, Kuze?" Makoto asked and rubbed her head. "She's in shock." Kai told her and rubbed her back.
"YAKKUN!!" Kuroo shook the shorter boy back-and-forth with pure rage that it made Yaku dizzy. "How could you make her cry like that?!" Aiko screamed at him and got Yaku by the tie, almost pulling it too tight that he couldn't breathe.
"You guys just don't understand!! If you do, you want to go either!" He screamed back to the two of them as he pulled himself away from the two.
"We've been to the restaurant and talked to her parents loads of time." Kuroo and Aiko agreed and started to tell how kind the Kuze parents were and how sweet her brothers, too, especially to Aiko.
Yaku stared at them intensely, grabbing their shoulders and cried a tear down his face with anxiousness in his eyes.
He remembered last week he visited her family. Her dad kept glaring at him while boiling the stew of their soup until it started to bubble out of control. Her mom almost killing him with a butcher knife but ended up hitting the painting behind him. Her brothers weren't that good either. One made a sculpture of his head with mashed potatoes before squishing it while the other purposely got him food twice the spice he could handle.
"The cats!! They're staring at me!!" Yaku shrieked and sobbed profusely.
Naomi just tried to calm him down, "N-no! They're like that! Mocha and Tiramisu are really nice!!"
~~~~~~

"I'll not be celebrating it this year, actually." Emika told them and wrote down some of her notes for the day. Her tone of voice sort of differs from her usual tone. Himura noticed it but didn't want to disturb her since Emika was pretty focus on the end of term.

Himura knows Emika has a stepbrother but she never really know him. He rarely goes home early whenever she went to her house.

"Anyways, enough about me. You?" Himura was a bit confused at where she wanted to go later that day. She definitely doesn't want to spend it at her own house since her family will be so yucky with the love or as she put it.

"Have you ask Fukunaga-kun or Chou?" Emika asked.

She hadn't thought of that. She knew Akahana will be spending her Christmas with Alisa and Lev, Chou will be lonely. It seemed to be a great idea at the time. She also hadn't spend time with Fukunaga a lot, it would also be nice to spend it at his house because he has been to her house multiple times.

"Agh, I have to go to cram school." Emika said as she packed her things and ran down the stairs of the school, leaving Himura only with her thoughts.

But she wasn't alone after all since footsteps started be closing in on her from her hearing. She turned to see Chou walking while having her phone in one of her hands while the other was holding on the strap of her bag.

She stopped her midway and Chou looked up from her phone only to blush madly like a tomato.

"Sara?!" She jumped.

Himura started to explain her concerns to Chou and even remarking how she saw the third years arguing from the stairs. "Yeah, heh, the third years...get like that after a...couple of months of either one dating." Chou giggled.

"Listen. About...what happened, at...my place. I kinda...if we could just forget about the whole thing? Maybe? I-"

"Do you wanna spend Christmas with me?"

Chou went dead silent when she heard it. She went red again and started to have short breaths. Trying to calm herself down internally, she tried exhaling some air.

"I..." She paused when she realized, "...I..." Something was preventing her. "...sorry. The library I work in doesn't give us days off for Christmas."

Her heart was broken with those words.

"B-but, I promise that I'll bring you new books as gifts." Chou told her with a forced smile. "I'm sorry."

Chou quickly walked away.

Himura sighed and clenched her fists as she failed to get a friend or date for her family gathering.

But she had one more person to ask.
