Upside Down

Chapter 18

I woke up to hear Alex and someone else whispering by the side of my bed. I tried to listen, but all I could hear were the vibrations from Alex speaking.

I moved my body so I was closer to Alex and so maybe I could be nosey and hear the conversation.

They stopped talking and Alex even held his breath so I wouldn't wake up all the way. I felt a hand stroke my hair and remove it from my face.

I stopped moving and pretended to fall back asleep. Alex started breathing again and the conversation went on.

"Are you coming home with us Alex?" Edward whispered

"No, I'll stay with Amy" he replied as a smile curved at my lips

"Okay" Edward whispers as he kissed my forehead "bye Amy"

"Bye" I muttered as I cuddled closely to Alex

Alex was still petting my head and running his finger through my hair making me start to fall asleep again.

"Babe" I whispered as I looked up into his beautiful green eyes "you don't have to stay. I'm just going to lay here all day and you have a calculus test today."

"It's fine" he began "I want to stay and plus I can always skip that test and do the make up the next day" I shook my head

"No, go ace your test and do it today because make ups are a pain in the ass" he chuckled

"Well, I'll just have to deal with it then" he argued

"Babe" I softly said "go take your test and get some sleep. You can come back later or in the morning" Alex sighed in defeat.

I untangled our legs, letting him sit up. I stayed laying on the bed while Alex sat in front of me.

"What?" I smiled

"Your so beautiful" he whispered as he pecked my lips and stood up "I'm going to take that stupid ass test, then I'm coming back to see you" I whispered an okay and Alex peck my lips again before leaving.

I watched him as he slowly walked out of my room towards the others at the car.

He stopped at the door and turned around "Love ya, Aims"

"You too" I smiled as he shut the door behind him

I closed my eye and snuggled up into the pillow.

I laid there for a few minutes before I heard the door open and someone walk in.

"Rise and shine darling" a male voice cooed "you know what they say about morning people?" He opened the curtains and I covered my closed eyes with my hands "they should go the fuck back to bed, but they don't because their assholes and feel like rubbing it in that they woke up early and started the day with a smile. What a bunch of shit!" I bursted out into laughter and looked to my left to see a tall, dark skinned, male nurse.

"I like your sense of humour" I laughed as he looked shocked

"Wow!" He began "your the first person who has actually spoken to me, today. And I have been here since five a.m. You just became my favourite patient" I laughed even harder

"Glad to know" I smile as he put a plate of pancakes next to the bed side

"I tried to make the microwaveable pancakes better, so I added syrup and a whip cream smile to try and brighten your day" he exclaimed

"Why thank you....." I was cut off by him

"Alfred, my name is Alfred and I take it your Amy, the new mommy" I smiled

"Yep" I sat up "nice to meet you Alfred" I stuck out my hand and he happily shook it

"Alfred room 1125 needs their medicine" a nurse yelled

Alfred rolled his eyes making me laugh again "These people always need something" he mumbled and started walk out of my room

Wait he can't leave! He can possibly help me and let me see James and Gracie. Because I know for a fact that the other assholes won't let me see them.

"Wait" I exclaimed making him stop in his tracks "do you think you can take me to see my babies?" he smirked

"I'm not suppose to" my heart sank at his words "but I never listen to the rules so I'll take you after you finish eating those... frozen shits" I nearly jumped from being so excited

"Oh thank you" I squeak as he smiled

"I'll be back after I give this bitch her medicine" he smiled as he walked out of the room

I looked at the pancakes and they look edible. I liked how Alfred put a whip cream smile because he was right, it did brighten my day a little. I cut up one of the pancakes and put it to my lips. I slowly put the little piece of pancake into my mouth and cringed at the overwhelming sweetness.

I was picking at my pancakes when Alfred walked back into room and I place the plate on the dresser next to me.

"Ready?" He asked as I shifted in bed

"Yep" I exclaimed as I sat on the edge of the bed

"Hold up" he commanded as I gave him a confused look "your not suppose to walk because of the stitches, so I got ya a wheelchair" he placed it right next to the bed side

"Can you help me?" I sheepishly asked as he smirked

"No" he began "I'm just going to stand here and watch you struggle" I laughed at his sarcasm "of course I'm going to help you"

Alfred held his hands out for me and I happily took them in my own. He pulled me up and set me down in the wheelchair.

"And we're off to see Amy's babies" he cooed as I giggled

"Yes! We're off to see James and Gracie" I exclaimed, joining in on his excitement

Alfred pushed me out of my room making me laugh at his fast speed.

He wheeled me down the long hallways until we got to another room. He rolled me inside and helped me sit on the bed.

"I'll be right back, Amy" he stated as he walked off leaving me alone

Excitement built up inside me and I could barely sit still. I had a mini thumb war with my thumbs, which didn't end well.

A couple minutes later, Alfred came back into the room with two little bodies in his arms.

My eyes welled up and my heart swelled with pride.

"Here you go, ma ma" Alfred joked as he set both Gracie and James in my arms "I'll be outside the room" I nodded my head, but kept my eyes on them

James opens his eyes and yawned making Gracie do the same.

"Your so beautiful" I cooed as they both smiled up at me "I promise, I'll be the best mum ever"

Aww, Amy finally got to meet James and Gracie for real this time.
