The fighting had calmed down, the Royal crew, Doc and Leilah were now in an intense stare down with Volcan and the unnamed man. The Spectre guards had all but been routed by the authorities, completely outnumbered and underpowered. Yet, most of the guards that remained had no idea about Leilah and Doc's betrayal, so they naturally rallied behind them.

With the added number of the few guards that were left, the Royals now had increased numbers, but seeing that the authorities had done the same, it was two hostile crowds on opposite ends of the parking lot.

"Doctor Leilah, Darren! We stand with you!" One of the guards announced.

The rest seemed to agree to this, although there were only around ten to fifteen of them left.

"If you truly stand with us, then fight with us" Leilah said while waving her arm in the direction of John and the rest.

The guards all stood in silent acceptance, having no other option since their only exit was blocked.

John deactivated his ability to release the powers he was holding, then reactivated absorbing Arlo, Remi, Blyke, and Isen's. Being called out, he decided it was best to meet the challenge in front of him, so he handed Seraphina off to Doc.

"Nobody touches her" John commanded.

"Nobody will even come close" he responded.

With that, John stepped out from the crowd, and on the other end the man stepped forwards too.

"What's your name, kid?" He asked. "I'd like to know who it is that I will kill!"

"..."

"Still not much a talker it seems... Anyway, my name is Braun" he yelled across to John.

John remained silent and began to slowly walk towards to Braun. As soon as John started to walk, Arlo began to follow, and soon after Remi, then Blyke, then Isen, and the guards all came too. On the other side, Volcan and her authorities followed Braun as soon as he began to walk to meet John too. Arlo caught up to John and spoke up.

"Looks like I finally got you to join the Hierarchy, you are going about this like a three on three turf war!" Arlo attempted to lighten the mood with a poorly placed joke.

John just looked at him while they were walking.

"Remind me to beat you after this for that one" John chuckled.

"What! Am I not allowed to crack a joke every once in awhile!?" Arlo acted hurt.

John was about to respond but Remi overheard Arlo and caught up to them, prompting Blyke and Isen to follow.

"What's this? Arlo made a joke!" Remi asked.

"No way! Tell me I can write an article about this!" Isen added.

"Really, Isen, is that all you think about?" Blyke mocked.

The five of them were beginning to get even closer to the authorities' forces, but for some reason they were able to talk like they were simply walking to the mall or their first period at school. John didn't know what to feel, he had only hurt these people for the time he knew them, and now they were willing to risk themselves for him and his friend.

Maybe he was wrong about them...

"Are you guys ready?" John asked.

Everyone diverted their attention to him.
