Sorry for being inactive for so long lol

After she was made aware of her new situation, it seemed that all Sophie could think about was Keefe.

More specifically? Their size difference.

As she had concluded before, Sophie was not exactly taller than the average elf (or human for that matter) and therefore shouldn't have been so hyper fixated on the fact that Keefe was taller than her.

Or larger than her.

Or had much bigger hands than her.

She shouldn't have been. But she was.

And while her thoughts never wandered into any unsavory territory,

(especially considering the fact that the author will, once again, never write Sokeefe above a PG rating),

Sophie was definitely able to conclude that she was more than a little bit obsessed with she and Keefe's size difference.

For example, after she had returned to her room with The In's and Out's of the Telepath Mind on that fateful day, rather than actually using the book to complete her Telepathic studies project, she gave the book a far more useful purpose.

A.K.A. holding the book on the exact same spot Keefe had held it to figure out exactly how much bigger Keefe's hands were than hers.

And subsequently blushing once she realized the exact ratio.

And the other time whenever the squad was over at the Vacker's house on a weekend when they were allowed to visit home from the Silver Towers. Dex had thought it would be hilarious if everyone (nearly full grown adults at this point, the nearly being Sophie) squeezed to fit on the Vacker's three seater couch while they were watching movies. That meant that Sophie was left squished against the left armrest. This wouldn't normally be too big of an issue, as Sophie was again, not exactly off the charts in the size department.

However, the other elf that she was squished against didn't exactly make her situation easy, especially since he was an empath who could read pretty much her every emotion without even touching her, much less when their bodies were squished together in Dex's attempt to turn their group of friends into a human pretzel monster.

She just hoped that he would blame the heavy waves of nervousness coming off of her as a result of the horror movie that Fitz had picked out.

And she tried. Tried to make the most of her situation by squishing herself as far into the armrest as she could spare to give Keefe some room (and herself some room to breathe without blushing). But it was all to no avail.

Keefe, with his gangly frame held together by solid muscle that had been earned from years of training with Ro (thank you Ro!!!!), would naturally need to stretch out after sitting in the same position for a long period of time. Obviously, the smartest move for him would be to stretch his arm out over the back of the couch towards the left armrest.

Sophie's left armrest.

Unfortunately for Sophie, this meant that she was fighting a war on two fronts, trying to squish away from Keefe's body but ultimately ending up caged in by his arm stretched over the back of the couch and almost around her, leaving her with the terrible fate of nearly snuggling Keefe and smelling his cologne for the entire evening.

Not that she was complaining.

And there was also the occasion where Sophie was standing outside the educational wing, looking at the curtain of rain that awaited her the minute she took a single step out from under the safety of the wing.

Of course, without an umbrella.

Just as she was about to make a break for it out for her dorm, a familiar sandalwood scent made itself known behind her.

Sophie turned around to find Keefe standing there with an umbrella in his hand and a smirk on his face, opening the umbrella and holding it out to her in a silent offering.

Not trusting her voice to speak, Sophie nodded and stepped under the umbrella into the small pocket of space Keefe created for her.

While the gesture was certainly kind and would definitely be appreciated under normal circumstances, the 10 minute walk back to the dorm area felt like torture to Sophie. Although Keefe's umbrella was certainly large, as it needed to be in order to properly shield someone of his size from the rain, it was really only intended for one person's use, meaning that Sophie was plastered to Keefe's side for much of the walk back to the dorms, a constant reminder of her current affliction.

And to make matters better, Keefe's unfairly long strides meant that Sophie was still struggling to keep up with him and the safety of the umbrella. Ultimately, Sophie was not always successful, leaving the back of her uniform more than a little damp when she arrived at the dorms with Keefe. As if sensing that he hadn't tortured her enough, Keefe quickly apologized and gave her his overcoat before going to his room.

And did she mention that he draped it over her shoulders himself?

She could still feel the warmth of his large hands on her shoulders through the sandalwood-smelling jacket as she walked to her own dorm.

The jacket of course, had still not been returned.

After these three events, Sophie had concluded that she was inappropriately obsessed with the size difference between her and Keefe, and ultimately chose to try to avoid him at all costs.

However, it seemed like fate was determined to push them together.

Keefe cornered her one day in the back corner of the fateful library, demanding to know why she was avoiding him and whether he had done anything wrong.

To prevent her escape, he closed off all routes that she could use to flee, leaving her pinned against the wall with Keefe towering over her in a perfect "Kabedon" pose.

This cocktail of size difference enablers was enough to make Sophie turn into a tomato once again, but also filled her with determination.

She decided to be honest.

Summing it up as best she could, Sophie explained that the idea of Keefe being larger than her made her flustered, but not in a bad way. Much to her surprise, Keefe's face began to take on a similar tomato red hue.

Grinning sheepishly, Keefe explained that he was also having similar symptoms, but in the reverse, leaving Sophie gaping at him as he explained that the various size difference encounters they had had were, more or less, initiated by him as a form of his own "research".

With both parties secrets aired out for each other to see, Sophie and Keefe came to a satisfying realization.

Keefe was tall.

Sophie was small.

And neither seemed to mind at all.
