*3 days later*

Hannah's POV

*beep beep beep*. My alarm clock went off. I hit the off button and got up. It's Monday, and like any other 17 year old girl I hate Mondays. Monday means school. I got ready, grabbed an apple, and went on my way. "Bye mom!" I shouted. She offered me a ride to school but I told her I could walk. I wanted to listen to some music.

I finally got to school. I threw away my apple and put my headphones in my pocket. I opened up my locker to get my stuff for class, when Malory ran up to me. Malory was my best friend. "Hannah have you seen Jessica, She's dodging all my calls?" she asked me. I told her I haven't seen her. Malory looked worried. "Don't worry Mal she's probably just late to school," I told her. She nodded. "C'mon lets go, I don't want to be late for English," I said. My English teacher, Mrs.Olson, can be pretty mean. I'm not in the mood to make her mad. We got to class and took are seats. Mrs.Olson called attendance.

"Jessica?" She said when she got to her name. "I guess there's no Jessica today." She marked her absent.

I looked back at Jessica's chair. It was weird, Jessica is never absent. She has a perfect attendance record. I started to get worried. I looked over at Malory, you could tell she was worried too. "Where do you think she could be?" She asked me. "I don't know, maybe she's sick?" I told her.

We thought it over. It still doesn't really make any sense. I've known Jessica since pre-school and never once has she ever been sick. I told Malory after school we will go to Jessica's house and find out were she is.

*after school*

Malory and I were walking to Jessica's house when we saw cop cars parked outside her house. I saw her mom in the front yard talking to one of the cops. We ran up to her when she was done talking to him. "Mrs. Harris, why are these cops here, where's Jessica?" I asked her.

She began to cry. "I wish you could tell me, she's been missing for three days," she told me. Malory's eyes got big, and her face started to turn pale. "What?" I said. Malory and I were both in shock. Where could she have gone? She's an honor student, and she's spoiled, she wouldn't have run away. "Can we help look for her?" Malory asked. "No you girls just go home, the cops will take care of this, okay," Mrs. Harris told us. Shes trying not to cry. We started to walk home, and more cops came up to Mrs. Harris and asked her questions. I over heard one of the cops say that she was last seen on Baker Street; an old man saw her on Friday night. "C'mon Mal we're going to Baker Street," I told her. She nodded, and began to cry. Jessica was a really good friend of ours.

We reached Baker Street. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Just some kids playing basketball in a driveway, and some lady walking her dog. We started to walk down the street when we saw an old man sitting on his porch. He was staring at me. "Hannah, lets go, that guys giving me the creeps," Malory said. "Hold on, he might know something" I told her. We walked to his house. Malory stood at the end of his driveway, and I walked up to him on the porch. "Um excuse me? Hi, I'm Hannah, and I was just wondering if you know anything about the disappearance of Jessica Harris?" He looked at me funny. "The cops already came here and asked me that. I just saw her run down the street on Friday night, but that's all," He said to me. I had a feeling he saw more. "Are you sure that's all you know?" I asked him.

"Yeah, now run along" he said. He was a grouch. I started to leave, Malory was giving me the 'get the hell out' stare. I stopped in the middle of his driveway and turned around to face him. "Wait sir, you see, she was one of my best friends, and I really need to know where she went. So if you know something please tell me, I won't tell anyone." I told him.

"I'm sorry kid but that's all I know, now go before they hear you" he said.

"Before who hears me?" I asked.

The man started to get up and walk towards his door. "Wait!" I said, "before who hears me?"

He turned around to face me. "Look, you're a nice girl. I would hate to see something happen to you. So I suggest you go home and let the cops handle this, okay." I looked at him funny. He stopped and looked across the street. What was he looking at? I turned and looked across the street, and there was a boy standing there. He had dark eyes, and his head was shaved. He was looking at me, and then the man. I turned back to look at the man. He took one last look at me then walked inside. He does know something, and I will find out. I turn around to walk to the end of the driveway where Malory was standing. I looked across the street while I was walking, and the boy was gone....
