Chapter 15: High-Tier

John had completely lost Blyke in his explanation, leaving him dazed and confused.

'Shit' John thought to himself.

Arlo noticed as well.

"John, I think we should start with some simpler things first" He suggested.

"You're right" John agreed. "Come here Blyke, today we'll just continue with the close quarters stuff like we were."

"Okay..." Blyke said, walking to him.

'Where could he be! I haven't seen him since the trip" Remi thought to herself as she ran around the campus. 'Maybe Isen can help me look with his ability!"

Remi was walking towards the boys dorm when she noticed a certain magenta haired girl waiting near the doors.

'Seraphina? What's she doing here" Remi questioned in her mind. 'Well I have to walk by her to get in, so I might as well see what she's up to.'

Remi approached Seraphina and called for her.

"Hey Seraphina! Whatcha up to?" She asked.

Startled, Seraphina turned around to be met with a smiling Remi.

"Oh... Remi. Not much. Just looking for someone..." Seraphina replied.

"Oh? I think I can guess who this someone is... How have you guys been doing lately?" Remi asked. "I think John and Arlo have been hanging out recently, actually, I think Blyke might be with them too, that's why I'm here now" Remi explained.

Flushed from what Remi unknowingly discovered, Seraphina turned her head away. Remi noticed this, and came up with an idea.

"I know! Why don't you come with me to get Isen, and we go looking for them" Remi offered.

Seraphina turned to look back at Remi, her mind was telling her to reject Remi's offer out of fear of Spectre knowing her location, but she desperately wanted to continue her and John's conversation.

"Uhm... I don't know if I ca-" Seraphina was cut off.

"You're coming, let's go get Isen!" Remi said while pulling her to the entrance.

Seraphina was going to protest but when they blew past the doors they ran directly into exactly who they were looking for. Isen.

"Isen! Just who we were looking for" Remi said excitedly.

"Why, what's going on?" Isen asked, confused.

"Do you by any chance know where Blyke is right now?" She asked.

Earlier, Blyke had told Isen that he was going to Arlo's for some training before he left, but he never said to not tell anyone. Besides, Isen was curious as to what was going on too, maybe he could write and article on this.

'King in Training' Isen was daydreaming of a top article possibility.

 "Yeah, actually I do know where he is" Isen responded. "He told me that he was going to train with Arlo at his place."

"Well that makes it easy! Follow me, I've been there before" Remi said.

With that, the trio left to Arlo apartment.

Arlo's Apartment:

Blyke threw a punch at John, but John grabbed his wrist from the top, twisted it around, and swept his legs after he locked his arm, pinning him on the ground.

"ARGHH" Blyke said while tapping the floor in surrender.

Letting him up, John spoke.

"Okay, now that you've seen the move, try it on Arlo" he said.

"What! Why me?" Arlo protested at hearing this.

"What?" John looked at him. "You have to learn these moves too, you ability practically begs for close quarters!" John countered.

"Fine..."

While Arlo was reluctantly walking towards Blyke to give him a chance to practice John's move, there was an abrupt ring from the doorbell. Elaine, who was watching them train, got up and went for the door upstairs.

"I'll get it!" She said while walking away.

*Wham*

Arlo had hit the mat after Blyke successfully pulled off the takedown.

"John! Did you see that! It worked!" Blyke was looking to John for approval on the move.

'Shit, I was distracted by the doorbell and missed it!' John thought to himself.

"Uhhh... Can you do it one more time? I missed it when the doorbell rang" John asked.

"WHAT! HELL NO, IT'S MY TURN NOW" Arlo yelled.

But right when he was about to get up to continue his argument, he stopped, at the sight that was behind John. Seraphina had just walked down the stairs. Arlo wasted no time, activating his ability and placing it around John as he was the closest to her.

"Arlo! What are you doing!" John asked, very confused.

"Quick! Copy my barrier and get ready!" Arlo ignored his question.

'Shit! The door! How were we found!?' John thought while putting up his own barrier and turning around.

'What!?' John thought as he was met with Seraphina right outside of his barrier.

"Put down your barriers, I'm not here to fight" Seraphina explained. "I was looking for you, John, when Remi found me and brought her along thinking Blyke would , be here. We didn't expect to find you here too."

Skeptical, they both deactivated their abilities, but nowhere near trusted this situation. What neither John or Arlo accounted for was the absolute confusion that they had caused the others in the room as nobody but them knew about what happened in Rowden.

"Arlo" Blyke whispered. "What was that?"

"We'll explain later" He answered.

Looking at Seraphina now, John spoke up first.

"What do you want, you mentioned you were looking for me?" John asked curtly.

"Can we talk in private?" She asked back.

"You do realize how hard that is for me to accept, right?" said John.

"Yeah... But can you just trust me, after all I did tell you about Leilah in Rowden" she responded.

"I remember that. I also remember what happened earlier that same day" he retorted.

"Jeez! Cut me some slack!"

"Kinda hard to when you won't explain anything!"

Both John and Seraphina were getting upset now because of this bickering match. But with hope, John decided to listen for once and go with her to avoid causing a greater scene than they already had.

"Fine... I'll go with you" John gave in. "Arlo, activate you ability."

"What!?" Seraphina exclaimed.

"Just in case" John added.

"Hmph" Seraphina let out in annoyance.

With that, they left the room.
